FC Scout - My Story

So, I've decided to write a story about my career as manager of FC Scout.

Being a journalist, I now feel compelled to write a fictional back-story

On 27th May, 2010, Blackpool FC were taken over by a rich group of businessmen. This group decided to re-name the club after it's chairman - David Scout. All the Blackpool staff were absolutely outraged by this prospect, and in the end left the club via mutual consent. Because of this; the owners decided to make a 'fresh start' and completely changed Blackpool FC, from it's name to it's team colours and badge. And in addition, David Scout decided to invest heavily in the club, putting in over 400M, making FC Scout one of the richest clubs in the world.

On 6th July, 2010, FC Scout decided to hire very unknown manager Peter Gyves ( a colleague in RL, btw). The few fans that FC Scout still had were mainly outraged at this. However, David Scout expressed his full backing to Mr Gyves.

Peter Gyves then decided to create an intake system to attempt to find the brightest talents out there. And Mr Gyves revealed that his new team of intake players, along with the money, are capable of WINNING the Premier League.

And here is where I start as Peter Gyves, unknown manager!

Great Start for FC Scout

All doubters of FC Scout and Peter Gyves have been dumbfounded by the team's magnificent start, first capturing the major names of Gareth Bale for £19M and Edin Dzeko for £25M, then remaining unbeaten in all games in pre-season plus in the Barclays Premier League and League Cup.

As evident in the screenshot, it has been a magnificent run for the Scouters, which saw then topple over giants Manchester United 4-1:

During the game against Chelsea though all looked lost until a dramatic Sun Chris goal in the 7th minute of injury time sent the travelling Scouters fans wild. Peter Gyves, manager of FC Scout, claimed that football was ‘all about moments like that’.


Gaffer’s View
Well, it has been a fantastic start for us but we can’t get too carried away. We need to keep our heads down and keep on winning. Our signings have performed poorly so far – they need to justify their transfer fee. The stats overall though, are fantastic:

We will look to build on this start and achieve our aim of at least challenging for, if not winning the Premier League crown – I know we are capable.

Gaffer's View Special - FC Scout Tactics

No real update in this post, just the tactics that my team use.

Formation - 4-4-2 Diamond

The formation i use in my tactics is a diamond 4-4-2. I think this formation uses the ability of my players the best.


Goalkeeper

Nothing special really. Default settings.

Back 4

Again, default settings. i don't feel the need to change the defence, to be honest.

Defensive Midfielder

The important slider here is the Run from Deep. Because Stam has the attributes to attack very well, and also he needs to fill the hole between the DMC and he AMC, he is allowed quite a lot of attacking freedom.

ML and MR

These need to be a little defensive to provide cover for the full-backs, since we play on a wide pitch. They have to cross from deep so that they don't get too far forward, leaving a gap for opposition wide players.

Attacking Midfielder

Hangs around in the hole between defence and midfield. He can roam from his position regularly so he can come wide or come deep.

STCL

The poacher. he doesn't have to come deep, he always stays right on the line, regularly trying to recieve through balls from the target man (below) and the playmaker (above) and breaking the offside trap often.

STCR

The target man. He recieves the ball to feet and tries to pick a through ball to the poacher or the onrushing AMC. Doesn't really concentrate on goals, more asists.

I am going to have to postpone this story I'm afraid, and maybe even stop it completely

Work has called and I have to travel to Belgium to do research on a certain player called Romelu Lukaku I might even write a blog entry about my findings in a couple of weeks, after I return. So thanks to everyone who has been reading, sorry guys and look forward to my blog entry on Lukaku!!
