Newish to the Game

Hello guys a wonderful site you have going on here Props!!

My main problem is I used to play football manager a lot back in 05 and 06 and my word the game has changed a lot for the better as well, but this one has me completely confused and scratching my head. Im currently trying to figure out when I start my game up what leagues I should pick so when I search for the players I want I can find them. So my main question is what leagues and size database do you guys use in order to get these so called wonderkids? Because I know if I pick all the leagues Im going to end up with a game that progresses a day in literally a day.

Thanks very much And also should I download the database editor thing for Mac?? And do all downloads work with Mac.

sorry for the 99 questions but I've got to start somewhere.

FM11 has the option to load all players from a nation/league/nationality so for example you could have all players from Norway without having to select the Norwegian leagues.

I tend to load about 25-30 leagues from about 10 countries and all players from each EU national country giving me player database of 175,000 and this loads plenty of wonderkids. My laptop has 4gb RAM and the game runs fast even with so much loaded. If your pc is a bit slower try just loading Brazil, England, France, Italy, Spain and this should get you a good deal of wonderkids.

Could you go into all the leagues you select please sorry for being so picky.

England EPL-BSP, Scotland SPL-D3, top 2 leagues from France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Holland, Belgium, Czech. Sometimes Norway, Greece and Poland. Alternatively or in addition you can select custom database and load all players of nationality from UK & Ire, Scandinavia, Central Europe and maybe some additional nations like Brazil, Argentina, Czech, Poland, Greece etc (are Poland and Czech republic considered central or eastern Europe?)

Yours should run fine then with 150,00 players plus. Might take up to a half hour to create the game though.

I usually load the two 1st leagues from portugal, netherlands and one of the three: france, belgium or ukraine!

i still have some pretty decent wonderkids, not as much as Evo but . . .
and when the database lacks of them, i just create them in my youth academy

but brazil is definitely a must if you want wonderkids!
