'Setting Nicknames'

I was just thinking when you give a player or staff member a nickname, does that strengthen your relationship with this person or is it just for your 'enjoyment' as it were? Anyone able to shed some light on this?

there's a lot of players in my game who have 4 letter french nicknames that would need to be heavily censored on this board. i can't imagine that would help them like me! coincidently they all seem to have scored past me in crucial matches with wonder goals against the run of play every single match. steven gerrard has long had a nickname in my game.

Any of them? Funny additional comment to make if playing as a french team is,"Va te faire foutre". Especially useful when they criticize you.

I use the nickname feature to track players' progress.
A player named John Hancock will become Hancock 100--65, after I glean his PA and CA with FMRTE-mini.
Six months later (usually in the transfer window) it might become Hancock 100--80.
Gives a good reflection of a young player's development compared to other U19 players.
Also let you know when your superstar is starting to feel the pace, and goes into decline.

I agree with you mate, I dont understand the utility of having nicknames, and this comes from before FM, i think even in CM there was already the option to give nicknames!

no is not a useless option. for example i have at my club a lot of scouts, and i dont remember all their names. so, for my head scout with 20 JPA and 20 JCA i will set a nickname "SCOUT". when ill want to get report for a player, i will see easy which scout to send. and so on...

well i spend hours searching for players to buy, writting lists of players and so on . . .
i wouldn't mind spending 30 secs. looking for by best scout out of 12 names

but ofc i understand that everyone can find a use to that, just not me
