I have looked at the online Manual and cannot find any mention of how to make a substitute during the Game.

on the top left u see a button "tactics" just press that and you will come to your team screen. then you just take one of your subs and drag them over the player you want to sub.
Thanks for that and one more if I can - One of the Players I want to play in my team is out on loan - can I recall him and if so how.
right click on the players and look in 'transfer and contracts' if the player is available for recall the there will be an option to 'recall from loan'.
