I am playing as Maidenhead, and have posted my first part of a story over in the story thread.
That aside, I had one of my CBs, who is always playing out of his skin; a right handful at the set pieces and has managed sixteen goals for us thus far this season (I'm in early Feb); which is third, after both of my starting strikers. Disappointing aspect is that he is a bit of a hot head, and is always drawing yellow cards but, one min he is worth 75K, the next 22K. What gives?
I'd admit that I have pretty poor facilities, but he doesn't come up each month with a "Homes performed poorly in training" or anything like that, so I can't explain the steep decrease in value, especially as he is playing so well.
Anyone have any thoughts?
What about Paul Taylor, who is sitting in my squad, drawing top equal salary but "undisclosed illness" for another 5 (!) months. Sod hasn't played for us yet, and I am tempted to release on a free and pay compo to get some of my wage budget back. I beat QPR (away too) in the fourth round of the FA Cup and got drawn against Peterborough in the 5th, so thanks to a dream draw, and some gate receipts I have a bit of cash!!!
How old is that defender, exactly? And did you recently purchase him? As, right after a transfer, the players estimated value will equal the transfer sum. After a few months, his value will usually decrease again.
His estimated value is actually of very less matter. If a club is in for him and he is playing really well you can always ask for more money for him. As for you "sick" player, I would recommend to let him go.
Thanks for the responses - I signed him on a free about five months ago, and his value shot up to 75K, he's 21 or there abouts - player is called Ashley Homes. It's just happened with one of my starting strikers, who has just had 4 weeks off injured, dropping from 90K to 16K...
And I am torn about my "sick" player....I think he could be great, but would he be useful in the BSP next season, when he can play....and why didn't either of my blind scouts pick up the fact he was crook?
Rhetorical question really, but when did Peterborough get so damn good? I scraped QPR based on shots from set pieces....but I don't fancy my prospects here so much!!! And they must be well off financially too....oh, to be league one. LOL.
I managed to get through Peterborough, more by luck then great play....only to be systematically torn limb from limb by West Ham (at home) in the 6th round 7-0. The best I can take from that is gate receipts.
Wow - undefeated through BSS, won the FA Trophy after drawing the away leg and smacking Kettering 3-0 at fortress York Road, and my Sixth round exit in the FA Cup, I am riding high in BSP now with a few readies to splash if the mood so takes me....
Question is this: Why can't I obtain a WP for a fantastic CB, who I would work into the ground, given that I am short of quality in this area. I was lucky enough to find a youngin who:
a) wanted to sign for me in BSP;
b) I could afford given the Board restrictions on wages;
Perhaps the question should be at what level in the league structure should I reasonably be expected to have WP granted to me?
And why do my backroom staff recommend players and other backroom staff whose wages are so far away from what I can pay. Just ends up being a short conversation which ends with "there is no point continuing these discussions"

Congrats! Good going!

You'll have to get a really, really exceptional talent to get a WP for someone who hasn't been playing for his country of late. Even with a team like Man Utd, I would occasionally have trouble getting WP for young players. Why don't you try having a tie-up with a Belgian club or something...send players over to live there and get a WP? It would take 3 years, though, sadly.

Heh...good question. They just recommend people on the basis of their suitability for your squad, which includes even dream players. You'll have to take it with a pinch of salt.
