This is my first attempt at a manager story. I'm not an expert at football manager or writing manager stories so if you have any suggestions about how to improve my game or suggestions for who to sign I will gladly read them and take them in. Also any tips to improve my manager stories will be appreciated. With this save I have used editor data to change the game to make all transfers up to date. Also all competitions are correct so Liverpool are not in any European competitions.

Liverpool’s Rafael Benitez sacked
Shocking news at Anfield as Liverpool’s manager for six years has been sacked after a poor season with Liverpool. Liverpool, a regular in champion’s league football, only managed a 7th place finish. Rafael Benitez won four trophies at Liverpool, the FA Cup in 2006, the Community shield in 2006, UEFA Super Cup in 2005 and most famously the UEFA Champions league in 2005. Even with them four trophies in the cabinet, ‘Rafa’ still hadn’t won what he had been brought in for, the Barclays Premier League. Fenway Sports Group hasn’t made a statement towards who the replacement will be but pundits suggest that Roy Hodgson, Martin O’Neil and Frank Rijkaard are the favourites.
Former England hero takes charge at Anfield
It has been revealed today that former England right back Elliot Smith has taken charge at Anfield. The former Derby County and Norwich City defender had a successful playing career gaining 77 games for his country and 9 goals. It has come as a shock to the red half of Merseyside that Smith has been appointed manager as he has only ever managed at Swindon Town in league two which compares nothing to the daunting task of managing a under achieving Liverpool side. Fenway Sports Group have backed the new manager and have assured fans not to worry of his inexperience and that they wouldn’t have signed him if they weren’t a 100% sure on his readiness to step up to managing such a large football club.
Steve Clarke Sacked
Elliot Smiths first action at Anfield is dismissing assistant manager Steve Clark. Smith said that Liverpool needed change and that he had a couple of ideas in mind of who to bring to Anfield as his second in charge. Clarke said that he accepts the manager’s decision and hopes he can get back into management as soon as possible.
Italo Galbiato, Anfield’s new second in charge
The Three Lions assistant manager takes the vacant assistant manager role at Anfield.
The 72 year old says to be delighted to be a part of such a massive clubs setup and can’t wait to help manager Elliot Smith in the day to day running’s of the club. Galbiato was highly rated by Fabio Capello, current England boss, and says he is sad to see him go but also wishes him the best of luck at his new role at Liverpool.
Burnley 1-3 Liverpool
Dominant Reds overpower Burnley at Turf Moor
20000 people were at Turf Moor to watch Liverpool play their first friendly of the season. New signing Stewart Downing opened the scoring 3 minutes in after a good finish in the bottom right corner after a fantastic through ball from Luis Suarez. 8 minutes in Liverpool looked likely to double their lead but fan favourite Dirk Kuyt headed over the bar from a Charlie Adam free kick. Just a minute after that it seemed that a goal would be at the other end but Wallace missed an incredible one on one opportunity with Pepe Reina. The second half started slowly with a completely different Liverpool side on the pitch with Jose Enrique being the only player from the first half to stay on the pitch. It wasn't until the 69th minute there was a chance. Craig Bellamy took on one then played a delightful through ball to Andy Carroll who coolly finished it off. 10 minutes after the first goal there was another chance for Liverpool. Jensen took the goal kick which Jonjo Shelvey got his head to. The ball rolled to Williams but Carroll chased. Williams was easily disposed by Carroll who only had the goalkeeper to beat and beat him. 5 minutes after Liverpool's third Burnley were looking to get some pride back to the scoreline. Rodriguez knocked it past Coates then shot from 25 yards out. It looked like Doni was going to save it, but the former Roma stopper could only get a touch to it as the ball rolled into the back of the net. Poor keeping. So apart from Doni's mistake it was a good performance from Liverpool. Andy Carrol got man of the match for his two goals and the Liverpool fans can't wait to see him in action again.
