I downloaded 11 through steam powered and all that happens when i try to play is that fm.exe appears in processes but doesn't play. I've been through about 4/5 faqs, done everything from verify the cache to uninstalling and reinstalling and nothing works. my laptop easily meets the system requirements for 10 and 11 but neither will run. Does anyone have any ideas what to do?

You got both FM10 and FM11 from Steam and neither of them is working for you? That's weird. I don't know what to suggest. Did you try to manually terminate the fm.exe process and then try again?
Did the game ever run properly in the first place?
do you have latest directx installed? it should be installed with fm 11 though. but something might be interfering and not letting it start, have u tried it on another pc?
11 from stream but 10 was a torrent download just to see if it was the stream version that wasnt working. Well when the .exe file is running is only using like 1/2% of my cpu and yes tried stopping if and the tree but it doesn't seem to do anything. If i try opening it again whilst it's still running i just get the "football manager is already running" message. and yes I installed all the latest direct x updates and reinstalled both twice. also today tried running various compatability modes and still nothing.
And no I don't have another PC but I know it's not a problem with the torrent, at least with 10, because its the same one my mate has and it runs fine on his computer.
