And you unticked the skin-cache as well?
It could be that the config file in your facepack is corrupt. Try downloading another pack, remove the one you got now, and check if that works. I had a lot of trouble getting mine to work as well, but now it is all good. I ticked on an of the skin cache option a couple of times extra, confirming each time, no clue if that helped though.
