I've updated the post to include all guesses to this point. Do we go another day? I'm at 24th August in the game so far and usually don't do my first summary until the end of September.
I guess we could wait... Although I'm awfully curious now, and I bet it's not just me!
Just started reading your stories yesterday, really entertaining. Crazy achievements you've accomplished, dethroning La Liga's giants! Looking forward to the next summary.

Yea it's even crazier! (In a good way of course)
Anyways have you considered managing a country if the opportunity arises like the last game?

I had three countries offer their coaching positions this past offseason, with the most tempting one being Argentina. I declined them all, however, because I felt too sidetracked when I managed England and Newport in last year's story. This year is all about coaching in different leagues.
Thanks to everyone that participated in the guessing game! Maybe we should do that with all the big name, non-newgen signings? Any way, without further hesitation, I present to you my 40m man.
Much like when we splashed for Jack Rodwell (38m), I think we overpaid a bit for Kyriakos. But the bottom line for me was simple. He's only 22 years old and I don't ever plan on letting him leave. He will be the centerpiece of our defense for years to come. His attributes speak for themselves and he is easily one of the most dominant defensive players I've ever had. He's accomplished at center mid so he can play there if we want to field an extremely defensive lineup. At the end of the day, I don't feel like I overpaid on the 44m price tag. I would've felt comfortable paying several million more, to be honest!
im going to agree with you joannes3000 he is a great defender. the only stat i worry about the most with a central defender is their concentration and their composure whic is the two real skills that he is lacking
omg a little bit more jumping and mental skills, and this boy is unbeatable
He never even crossed my mind now that you mention him.....
But man he looks like a beast, especially for a 22 year old.
Hopefully that £44mil price tag is paid off in no time so that he can start making you money just like Bueno and the rest of your transfers have done or will be doing soon

We got to participate in the Supercopa de Espana for winning La Liga last year. The Supercopa de Espana is the Spanish equivalent to the Community Shield and we got to face off against our rivals of late - Real Madrid. We got things started off in fine fashion as we took a 3-1 lead during the home leg. The first non-friendly game for our defense looked up to the task, limiting Madrid to 3 shots on target and 8 shots overall. The away leg played out much more in favor of Madrid as they came out knowing they had to score a handful of goals to win the trophy. As a result, Madrid took nearly 3x as many shots as us (14 to 5) but once again our defense stood tall and only allowed 3 of those shots on target. We ended up losing the match 0-1, but won by an aggregate final of 3-2. Nothing like starting off the season with a bit of silverware!
Three seasons in and we're off to our strongest start yet in league play. We didn't play any of the top sides in the opening two months but we got the results that were expected of us. We finished the early months with 5 wins, 1 draw, and no losses. Our newly strengthened defense is looking stout, having allowed only two goals thus far. Our undefeated start has us in first place, ahead of Athletic by goal differential.
We have four games coming up in October and things should start to get a bit interesting. We face Racing (12), Espanyol (20), At. Madrid (5), and Athletic (2). I think we can come away with at least 7 or 8 points this month.
Our draw for the group stage of the Champions League wasn't exactly an easy one. Chelsea drew the top spot, Porto drew the second spot, we drew the third spot, and Besiktas drew the fourth spot. Obviously we would have to do well against Porto if we are to get out of this group and we had our chance right off the bat as we traveled to Porto to open group play. We scrapped to a well-earned 1-0 victory, with newcomer Kyriakos Papadopoulos bagging the only goal of the game off a fantastic header. Chelsea barely got out alive against Besiktas and we are currently tied with them at the top of the group table. Next month will be pivotal as we play host to Chelsea and Besiktas.
The early rounds of the Copa del Rey have begun but we haven't entered into the competition yet.
Two consecutive seasons of bolstering the club are really beginning to materialize. I have enough quality at my disposal to rotate players effectively and that should help as we look to defend both the La Liga and the Copa del Rey, as well as trying to do well in the Champions League.
Yaym another trophy >:D. Great job mate! Your da boss.
It would be interesting to see how the La Liga turns out in the next few years, will Real madrid be a relegation fighter? Will barcelona be a Liga Adelante team? Who knows
I hope everyone had a fantastic holiday season! Here's an update that I've been trying to post for days now.
Our unbeaten start in league play continues through October. We had a few more close calls this month, however, with a 2-1 win over Espanyol and a 1-1 draw against At. Madrid. Even though we've only dropped 4 points so far, we've managed to slip one spot into 2nd place. We trail valencia by one point while we lead Real Madrid by one point.
Heading into November we face Sevilla (11), Malaga (6), Villarreal (9), and Sporting (14). A clean sweep of 12 points is very possible and I'd love to do so in order to keep the heat on Valencia with an eye to a clash with them toward the end of the year.
Mission accomplished with our Champions League games this past month! We had a gutty performance at home against Chelsea with Alberto Abengozar netting a goal in the 93rd minute to break some hearts. Against Besiktas, it took a while but when we broke through we kicked the door in. Bueno bagged a brace in 5 minutes and Nathan Redmond gave us a 3-0 lead before Besiktas score a consolation goal in the 82nd minute. Halfway through group play we hold a commanding 5 point lead at the top of the table thanks to Chelsea and Porto drawing their match. That means we only need 5 points out of the final 3 games to guarantee passage into the knockout rounds.
We begin our title defense of the Copa del Rey in the 4th round and open against... Feeder team Cadiz. We didn't do them any favors in the first leg as we cruised to a 5-0 victory. We will host Cadiz at home in what should be a formality before we proceed into the 5th round.
We're currently tied for the 2nd most goals scored (Madrid has bagged 35 in 9 games) with 24 and the goal scoring has definitely come from more players this season. Bueno still leads us with 7 goals, but our attacking trio of Torje, Thiago, and Redmond have all scored 3 each. My starting DC pairing have scored 5 combined goals. Our reserve players are even pitching in when they've had their chances.
Our strong form continues in league play as we push into the new year. We seemed to lose our scoring touch a bit with an opening 1-0 win over Sevilla followed by a 2-1 win over Malaga. Our showdown against Villarreal was a spiritied 3-3 draw that was high on entertainment. And for our scoring troubles early in the month, we had no troubles putting up 5 goals against Sporting to close out November.
December should be a fun way to end the year. We face Athletic (9), Numancia (17), Barca (5), and Valencia (1). 8 points would be a positive for us in a month where we face two teams within the top 5 spots on the table.
One goal down, one to go in group play. We have guaranteed safe passage into the knockout stages, which was one of our goals. The second goal is now in play because of our strong performances to date. We have already clinched the top spot in our group, and with 5 wins we can achieve a clean sweep if we can go to Stamford Bridge and overcome Chelsea. What seems possible for only the strongest of sides is well within our reach at this point. And since we're so close, we may as well finish the job, yeah?
As expected, we finished the demolition job against Cadiz. What's there to say about a 10-1 aggregate victory? We outclassed them. Our 5th round opponent in the Copa del Rey will be Almeria. And while they should be tougher opponents than Cadiz, we should handle the lower table team fairly easily.
I don't plan on making any moves in the January window, but if I were in the mood to buy it would be for some upgrades at the fullback positions. I want to improve our offensive presence there eventually.
