Wow. Amazing! Hurry and play the game, i want to know the ending! Hahas!
Tomorrow I leave for vacation and won't be back for a week. And while I will have internet access, I will only have my netbook which means no FM! Before I leave, however, here's an quick update!

I'll be honest, everyone. I have no idea where our team found the motivation needed in the Spanish Cup final. We were without a suspended Jack Rodwell. We were coming off of a loss in the semifinals of the Champions League. I actually went into the game in defense mode because I just wanted to keep Madrid off the scoreboard for as long as possible and then hopefully we could catch them on a break. Six minutes in, Bueno fought his way through a slew of traffic only to have Cassilas come up with a huge save. The rebound came right to us, however, and Torje fed the ball right back to Bueno for the opening goal. (youtube) Our defense did well to shrink the pitch and we were able to slow down Madrid's vaunted attacks. We went into the break with a 1-0 lead, and while Madrid held the lion's share of possession, our defense kept them off the scoreboard.

As if the gods had it out for me, Bueno would then be sent off 1 minute after the restart. 1 minute! After winning a corner, I guess Bueno was arguing with the ref and he gave him his second yellow card of the match. Video highlight here. Fantastic. I made no changes to our shape, we just played without a poacher up front. We continued to play defensively and it continued to work! Then it happened. Our 10 man squad somehow managed to catch Madrid on the break and Thiago slotted home a 64th minute goal for an improbable 2-0 lead! Video highlight here. Tick, tick, tick. Time was taking FOREVER to drain off the clock. And once again, it appears we angered the football gods. Or maybe there was a bit of favoritism from the refs?

Marcos Angeleri was sent off for his second yellow, dropping us down to 9 men. 9 men, 15 minutes, 2 goal lead. I decided it was time to park the bus. To hell with flowing football. I subbed out both wingers and went with a flat back 4, a DMC, and two center mids. If Real wanted this game, they would have to put it past all 9 of my men. They could do nothing to unlock our defense and it was finally over. As ridiculous as it seemed, it was US hoisting the Spanish Cup trophy!

Congrats! Such a difficult achievement! 9 men against a rampant Real Madrid!
Woah! 2-0 up and 9 men after 15 minutes. Well done on keeping them out.
OMG WE DID IT!

Things literally went down to the very last match day, but we somehow finished ahead of Madrid and won La Liga! We went into the final day down 2 points so we absolutely had to win. And since Madrid has a ridiculous +/-, they had to lose. With Betis as our season-ending opponent we had an extremely good chance of winning and I think that pressure may have gotten to Madrid because they should have handled Mallorca with ease (my apologies, Stam, I told you their opponent was Malaga earlier today!). We must have spent most of the day paying too much attention to the scoreboard, however, because we were having a hell of a time against Betis. Here's an attempt at a timeline:

Madrid - Pepe sent off in the 16th minute with a straight red card!
Madrid - goes down 0-1 in the 36th minute.
Madrid - goes into halftime down 0-1.
Granada - BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING. 0-0 halftime score. Can we get motivated?
Granada - Diakhate gets a little too motivated and gets sent off for his second yellow. FML.
Madrid - Sergio Ramos sent off after a second yellow! No way a 9 man Madrid squad can even equalize, right?
Granada - Chris McCann pushes one past the keeper and we take a 1-0 lead in the 70th minute.
Madrid - UNBELIEVABLE! Mallorca take a 2-0 lead in the 79th minute. Surely we have to win!
Granada - Kriztian Adorjan puts the nail in the coffin with a strike in the 88th minute.

Celebration ensues. We did what even I thought was unthinkable at this stage of the team's development. We beat one of the big boys in a marathon race. Mourinho had been taking jabs at me all season long and I was starting to get irritated. But I got the last laugh, at least this season! We managed to do the double this year after winning the Copa del Rey earlier, at the expense of Madrid as well. :D
oh my good god.....well done bud...how you managed that I don't think we'll ever know but by god you did it :D you have got to be getting alot of recognition for that and all the hard work you've done already...surely????
Oh my god, amazing. Can you upload a screen with your squad? Amazing dude, keep it up. Cheers!
Well done mate. You think you gonna win La Liga next season?

Summary

What a season! We celebrated our first trophy win by winning the Copa del Rey. And it didn't take long for us to win our second trophy after stealing away the top spot at the finish line and taking home the La Liga trophy as well for a fantastic double at the expense of Real Madrid. We also had a much stronger showing in the Champions League this season, marching all the way to the semifinals before bowing out to AC Milan.

Having the majority of our squad together for a full season helped immensely and we should do well next season too. Rodwell and Jano will be available for our Champions League run and that alone should make a world of difference. If we can solidify our defense a little more I think we can be realistic contenders to bring home the CL trophy within the next few season and then it will be onto the next league!

Having advanced clear out of the group stage this past season, that will be my expectations going forward. We should expect to get out of group play each year and let the luck of the draw determine how far we go from there. With our team strength getting increasingly better each year, I like our chances against just about everyone outside of the top flight in Europe.

I got my first two outside job offers shortly after winning La Liga, so yes, others are starting to take notice! AT. Madrid and Villareal were the ones to offer.

It's hard to say, mate. Even though we won the league, we were only the 4th best team in terms of goal differential. Real Madrid was +38 better than we were! That stat scares me because we can't rely on luck like this every year.

Remember the talk about wanting to greatly strengthen our defense? I've got a BIG signing that burned about 40m of my 75m transfer budget. Now before I post a screenshot of the player we brought in, does anyone want to take a guess at who we brought in?

    It's not a regen
It's either a keeper or a back four player (DL/DC/DR)
He plays for his national team
