tactically i would say go for an "easy" instruction one. usually short slow passing helps. but a mix around can be good as well. having ur flank players on more direct type passing whilst middle ones on short(the good ones on mixed ex playmaker). finding a passing style for each player can be important to make sure your team has good amount of possession(but also good in creating chances).
you should be looking to exploit the best quality in your team. if you have quick strikers then you probably might want to look at a more counter attacking play with a slightly more direct approach. keeping it centrally defensive and attacking on counters to get advantage in matches.
in the end its just experimenting and knowing your team and putting instructions according to, to be able to do well.
