Buying for Free!

I have just started a new game with arsenal. I dont exactly remember which player I was after but his value was about 10mm. But my scout thought 35mm was required to get him and the club itself wanted about 40mm. Now the issue is twofold:

1. whats the point of having a 10mm valuation if the 'real' price is 35-40mm? It screws up all the time spent doing comparisons between players of a similar price. I appreciate clubs dont want to sell their prized asset but a 400% increase in price is silly. Is there a way to get more accurate valuations int he game?

2. The player has only 6months left on his contract. How can I just chat with him to buy him for free (on a Bosman) in 6m time? I tried moving the transfer date to a point beyond his contract but his club still want 40mm. There must be a way - private chats maybe?

Also, I want to remove Robin Van Persie as my captain as he is shouldering too much responsibility, but when I try to do so he goes mental. Any special 'captain-chats' one can have with the players?

Finally I have tried signing a bunch of new staff. The board says there is no limit of staff I can have. I tried hiring Frigerio and the board keep cancelling the transfer as they say I have too many coaches (I have 3, board recommend 3).

Here you go:

1) its very much like real world, say if you are arsenal and do not want to sell Ramsey/Wilshere, you will slap a price of atleast 50 mn without which you wont sell... its business and makes game interesting. you need to search harder for value for money deals !

2) If the player has only 6 months left, you can aaproach to him directly and offer a contract, you dont have to pay his club any amount....

3) If captain change is that important, just do it RVP will moan for a while but when you start winning matches, morale would go up again and everythng would be forgotten. However, if you start losing or dropping points, it can be major problem...
I never change captain in first 2 seasons, let team get some confidence in you and board as well, then do what you have to...

4) Regarding coaches, no board says unlimited coaches are allowed, let alone arsenal. You can either fire existing ones and then hire your own. Another way is to ask board to allow you more coaches.

i am actually keeping away from the 'best players guides' and things like that. for all my inevitable mistakes when i actually find a gem it makes it that much sweeter. my first purchase is Christian - an austrian left back as competition for santos. got a bid in for a DM as well but forgot the fellows name! hopefully once that is complete i can target a right back.

With regards to coaches, i just mutually terminated the entire staff at Ath. Madrid, they were all terrible coaches, i have replaced them with (thanks to GS12) free agents that are very good (Di Salvo, Ayesteran etc.)

First thing i do when i start a game is get rid of every single member of staff whose coaching isnt at least 4 stars.

Staff is a massive priorty, Messi didnt become the player he was without some top class coaching along the way. I have found that a fairly decent team (sort of Atletico standard) that having top class or as many top class coaches as possible and a good training schedule will bring a lot out of the players you have

I think the confusion with player values is that its not what a club values them at like you have mentioned, it is the price that the team has spent on them. At the start of the game Torres is valued at 50m Andy Carroll 35m etc... Thats why most players who have not been transferred are valued at relatively cheap (Long as there not international superstars!)

i agree they are a massive priority. i did the same at arsenal. however how do u see what the star rating is for a coach. i am in desperate need for a shooting and ball playing coach. i have boro primorac who has great stats but only comes up as 2.5 stars for both those attributes. i also have some gk coaches with 20 rating but only a 3 star gk coach rating.

has anyone hired bernard hopkins i think his name. unbelievable stats but he is currently a scout with a release clause of 2.84mm. dont mind paying that if he will 5 star me in a few categories.

I agree with Anubis206, coaches are very important for the development of young players, under 24 years old.

You can hire only a certain number of coaches, and if you is not enough, then you hire an additional number of coaches, but as first team coach, so I am.
