TV deals

If anyone has managed Barcelona they will notice in their finances section that they have a TV deal worth over £100m a year. I just wanted to know if anyone that has improved the reputation of a club to such a level that they have secured a deal similar for their club? I ask this as I am playing a game with Newcastle and have had a dramatic rise in their reputation within Europe after several competition wins and being a regular in the Champions League, but we are yet to see any big deals come in to improve our spending power. Sure the Champions League TV and prize money is a boost but we still don't have the money to buy the big players, lack of funds and paying the wages would see a dramatic drop in finances. Instead I'm still working with a transfer budget of around £25m a season and wage budget of around £900k to £1m

ehm if u didnt know the spanish league has different and unfair rules. so real and barca get massive tv deals which brings them lots of money. while the rest get scraps like 10 euros per year or something.

with the english league there are fair rules and such. i think the tv deal in england is equal for every team. which is good.

also one way to control budget is controling wages, not having too many players, not too many on high wages.

I see what you mean, I've been a regular playing of FM since 2005 and a few of the CM titles before that so I'm pretty good with handling my finances and often get near 100% confidence from the board for financial control. Like I say I've been building a strong squad, mainly relying on unknown players or the tranfer market but to make the next step and challenge in Europe I think I need to start bringing 2 or 3 world class players, but I don't have the budget. Often I get quoted figures of around £40m for the kind of players I'm after. I don't expect to get Messi or Ronaldo but someone like Bale, Cavani or M'Vila

yh i get your problem when uve come to a certain level and you hit the limit with the current team. often selling and buying is the way to go. but its not often u want to sell ur better players.

also maybe nagging to the board for a bit of money might help u get some extra money. if finances are good that is.

Thanks, yeah I've always stuck to a philosophy of not selling players until I have signed their replacements as I don't want to be caught out by selling a good player then failing to bring a new one. I broke the bank to bring in Coentrao for his £26m release clause, £8.5m for Kyle Walker and £7.75m for Wilshere while only bringing £10m back in through sales in the January window as they could take me closer to making up an all conquering team. It leaves my bank balance looking a little unhealthy at just under -£1m but I look set to win the league again and I'm into the last 8 of the champions league so I'm confident we'll be alright with the prize money coming in at the end of the season. I guess it makes it more interesting trying to keep a balance with how much you spend rather than just having endless money. I've used FMRTE in the past but always find it much more satisfying playing without cheating, so I won't be tempted to use it on this save game after making it this far doing things right

After winning trophies having a surplus budget is easy. Sell your older players before they start losing value and make sure you have good young players ready to replace them. I've accumulated 150M doing this.

I have no old players lol, I have stuck to a policy of buying no-one older than 26. This is to make sure I either get my moneys worth in terms of seasons played or I can at least get a decent return when I sell them on. I'm in my 4th season now and my average squad age is around 24, my squad is:

I recently got Dartford promoted to the Championship.

The newsfeed said I had received £2.69 million in TV money, but when I looked in "Finances" there was no record of this money coming in- my balance was the same. The same thing happened in League 1 last season but as it was a small amount I let it slide.

Is this a bug? Is there a fix? Will this happen to the multi-millions when the Darts make it to the Prem?

It's not a bug, it's just not explained that the £40m TV money doesn't come as a lump sum as soon as it's announced. Over the course of the season you will get drips and drabs of TV money, and by the end of the year you should have received £40m in total.
