Samir Nasri completed a £25million switch to Manchester City

Arsene Wenger has lost his battle to keep Samir Nasri at the Emirates, the Frenchman who joined in back in 2008 from Marseille in a deal that cost £12million was the heir apparent to the departed Cesc Fabregas.
With just one year remaining on his deal and Manchester City sniffing around, the French international was never interested in the contract offered by the London club. "We offered him a very good deal, we just could not compete with them [Manchester City], so we had to accept City's offer or we would lose him for nothing come January." Wenger said today, high spending City had no qualms splashing £25million to bag a player entering the last year of his deal.
