Hi, all. I'm a refugee from a failed FM site, footballmanagerportal.co.uk. Hopefully I'll be able to seek asylum here
We were fading away anyway, as people dropped off without a matching number of new joinees, a number of active participants went through life changes (in a lot of cases, getting older and having to deal with the time demands of university, leaving nothing for FM (WHAT!?!?!) if marks were going to stay reasonable), we got overwhelmed with spammer joinees (which it ended up just me dealing with, manually), and several other problems. The board owner intended an upgrade, after years of hinting, he launched something that was the death knell. He never would let go so more interested parties could take over full management. So here I am, and possibly others.
I go by the tag of "mwichmann" which is a contraction of my real name. In real life I've got parents who were Finnish at my birth, US citizenship as a result of my own birth, and various UK ties, as well as past family history that has links to Germany, Sweden, Scotland, Russia. Proper mutt, as it were
In the game, nationalities tend to be set up as Finnish first, USA secondarily, for whatever that's worth.
I've done a number of careers over several FM versions, I think the most notable one, which was the subject of a long, long story on the above mentioned site, now unreachable except possibly through an internet archive site, started at Burton Albion, then a brief stint at Portsmouth when they hired me away, then many enjoyable and successful years at Newcaste United, and finally on the club side, Chelsea - out at the point when there weren't really more than a few recognizable names to us humans in world football, mostly regens. Along the way, stints as national team manager of Croatia, Brazil, England, and finally Finland.
I had a story in progress that going only partially posted after the problems noted above; I'm going to pop it over here, it will be in the FM11 stories area, not FM12,
since that's the game it started out on. Time constraints have kept me from getting going on an FM12 story, we'll see how that goes. Hope it will be enjoyable to some; feel free to comment or shoot arrows at is, as you wish, maybe I'll make some adjustments to the writing if that seems warranted. It will start out at Hibernian, in the SPL.
Cheers,
