Need some help here, my team:
Gk: Cech

Centre-Back: Samba(1st team), Terry(1st team), David Luiz(Sub)

Full-Back: Ashley Cole(1st team), César Azpilicueta(1st team), Ryan Bertrand(Sub), Branislav Ivanovic(Sub)

DM: Oriol Romeu, John Obi Mikel(Injured), Fernandinho(Usually I play him as CM)

CM: Fernandinho, Ramires, Douglas Costa(Injured), Frank Lampard

AM: Ibrahim Afellay, Juan Mata(Injured)

Striker: Daniel Sturridge(Injured), Romelu Lukaku(Injured), Fernando Torres(Injured), Sergio Agüero

Usually I play 4-1-2-1-2, but my striker in my team now left Sergio Agüero, other good striker out on loan, and I need help now.. Anyone can help me to build a good formation and why ? =)
My next is Manchester City @@
the 4-5-1. for me, its the most reliable tactic i've ever used. 1gk, 2lb and 2 cb. 1dm(anchor man), 2 cm, a cm support and a advanced playmaker (atack if you think your team is better than the other, or support if you want more strength in the midfield.) 2wingers, one atack, one support, and a poacher.
What are your wingers like, and are there any youngsters with potential you can move up to test them out, and bulk out the bench?

Maybe try a 4-2-1-2-1 central and possibly could work although changing your formation in any senario will not be overly hepful as they haven't learnt it yet. What are your 3 formations that are trained up?
No need to change tactics.

If you use Lampard as target man and Fernandinho as poacher their quality as well as that of the rest of your team means you ll be more than ok till you get injured players back.

But especially with teams such as Chelsea you should have a bigger squad so that such problems wont arise.

He doesn't need a bigger team... he probably has trouble managing them already. He has 4 top quality strikers already... so, you can hardly expect him to carry around five, just in case four get injured

Do you still have Josh McEarnhan or something like that... he's apparently some potential who could play...
Unsolicited note: you might want to look at why you have so many players injured, if these are training injuries you may need to back off a bit, if they're in game make sure you're not running out players who are already tired/worn down too often. It could be just bad luck, but it could be a sign of a problem also.

Can't tell if your 4-1-2-1-2 is narrow or wide; if you're normally playing narrow, AND you had all your midfielders, I'd say play with a 4-2-3-1, but with Costa and Mata out you don't really have the players to do that, either.

I disagree about not building a bigger squad; I think you need a fifth striker, although it can be a less proven one, who won't get unhappy at limited playing time. With four, if normally playing with two strikers, that's two on the bench if everyone is healthy/fit, so even with one out you'd be a bit short, with two out you have no subs.
Don't change formation, your striker out on loan, if you didn't charge an initial loan fee, you should be able to recall him! Do you have any players in the reserves or any youth potential that you could promote just for a few games?
Also, just change slightly the way you play, focus more on keeping the ball in the middle of the park as you have a lot of central midfielders fit.

Hope this helps

I disagree.

In a team of chelski's calibre (which will have a lot of matches per season) and with the injury problems that seem to arise often in FM12 4 attackers are not enough and generally a bigger squad is needed. If he plays two per match and there is a match every 3/4 days then they wont be starting matches at 100 fitness which spells disaster on many fronts especially regarding injuries.

I know he has to register a squad of 25 for the PL but with the amount of matches he's likely play it more than pays to have players not registered for that but available to play in cup matches/the cl. In the beginning their morale will be low but very soon when the matches start coming thick and fast they ll be happy.
in my united save, i had a semi-final against real madrid with most players on low fitness, and all strikers injured, also injured were hazard, vidic, samba and nani,

i still managed to win by playing:

3 CB, 2 WB, 3 CM, 2 AM's

1 CB on stopper role, wingbacks on automatic, cm's 1 BWM D, 1 BMW S, 1 AP A,
AM's = A
