Hey guys, first post here! How are you?

I have a question about the genie scout. Lets talk numbers:

I have a shooting coach with 4.5 stars in shooting training. Genie tells me he has CA 154 and PA 165, which is good. But i found another coach who has also 4.5 stars, and his CA is 100 and his PA 143.

So my question is, who is better for me to sign? Both have the same rating in stars, but mine has only 11 points left in his PA, whereas the other can improve for 43 points. Will the second achieve 5 star rating or not? Who should i sign?

Sorry for long post and thanks for the amazing work done here!

Welcome to the site. Yours is a tricky situation and one I find myself in often. Its unlikely either will reach 5 stars because its so difficult but I'd look at the "attacking" and "technical" attributes of the 100 CA guy. If they're both 19/20 its less likely he'll ever reach 5 stars because the 43 PA points will go into other attributes that don't contribute towards the shooting training rating.

I'd would also check how high the "hardness of training" attribute is for each of them and if one had it lower than 10 I'd get rid of him. Think about age too, the younger coach is going to be around longer.

Overall I'd usually go for the guy with more potential to improve unless his hardness of training was really low.
Thank you for the welcoming and your help. I understand what to look for now.

The thing i can't understand is this though: generally speaking, can a coach reach 5 star rating even though his PA may be only 150? Or he needs PA from 180 and above? I mean, for example, if a coach has CA 85 and PA 150 (fictional numbers) and star rating 4.5, can he achieve 5 star or will he remain at 4.5 even though he has so much potential left?

What should i look for, potential above a certain number, or difference between CA and PA? I hope i make myself clear, i'm not very good in English.

Very clear. In general the coach with higher PA has a better chance of reaching 5 stars but even a coach with only 100PA or less can hit 5 stars. It all depends on how his attributes are distributed.

Most important is looking at what attributes contribute towards the star rating and what the coach currently has in those attributes. Determination, motivating and level of discipline all contribute towards each coaching star. The coach calculator is useful for working out what attributes contribute.

So a 150 CA with 200 PA has low determination, motivating and level of discipline is less likely to reach 5 stars than 100 CA 150 PA with 15 in determination, motivating and level of discipline.

Overall to answer your question you should really look at both. Look for top PA first but also check the ddm (determination......) and compare the current star rating with the difference between CA PA. Do not waste your time signing a coach with 200 PA who has 5s,6s and sevens in determination, discipline and motivating. I'll post some screenshots of the staff I normally sign.
These are the kind of coaches I'll sign that I expect will become 4.5 and hopefully 5 stars in a few seasons. I signed them when they had 60-70 CA and had 3 star ratings. I always make sure when signing high PA (170+) coaches with low CA (60-70) that they have determination of 15+ and motivating and discipline of at least 9+. Also check their ambition, very low ambition and they will only improve very slowly.

This last one is an example of a player who has very low CA but a surprisingly high fitness star rating purely because his attributes are distributed well.

I understand. Thank you very much. What is the "thank you" button right under the posts? Should i click it if someone helps me?
Are you morecambe by any chance?
