I think that in actual game the results and the moves in the game are generated by many topics about the two teams and features outside the teams like weather, the stadiums that they play, and so on...A randomly issue is added to create the "mood" of the team on that day (if they are in good days or not), luck situatons and, finally, one game with same teams never is the same if it is played again. Don't judge me wrong, the current AI is good, but it's calculated (i think, and i'm not sure) in the begging of the match and it only could be changed with substitutions and when you talk with the players at half-time. What i want to see is an AI that is calculated when each team have an opportunity. The numbers of chances are calculated as they are now, by factors and random issues at the beggining of the game. How they progess will be calculated in real time. What i mean with this? Suppose a player have morale at 70%, the tactic is set to play a short pass game (80% short pass, 20% long pass), the stadium have a good pitch (90%), the player have a level of pass of 50%, concentration is poor (20%), and so on. What is beneficial factor of this? Well, if you play F.C Barcelona against Tenerife (I have respect for both clubs), you will see moves when Tenerife will make errors and Barcelona will use them to create there own chances and not a only Barcelona attack game. Failures from players will be more usual, when you see the moves you never know if it will be a good one or a terrible mistake that the opponent will benefit, and so on. For instance, games with poor teams result in poor games (what is some how true), with good ones, you could see good football with attacking and defensive moves. This a complexe subject and it's difficult to explain in words, but i hope you understand what i want to say and speak about it...
I sort of understand what you are trying to say, and I partly agre with the sense that the AI should be based upon a different set of rules, as for example I go to watch confrence football often, and because of the attributes selected by fm watching confrence football in fm is lke watching pub football, there is too big of a gap the lower you go down in the league. A different system should be implemented but I suppose thats just the evoluation of fm and gaming in general over time that this will happen
