I'm really getting irritated with this... the login seems to time out extremely fast for a forum-type site, if I take a little while to compose a considered reply to a post, it invariably fails with an error because the login has timed out. And when this happens, what you typed is lost... there doesn't seem any way to get back to it.
This makes no sense at all, couldn't we have a reasonable timeout, like six hours or something? A few minutes is just insane.
No answers to this? I just lost another reply I'd composed to a thread...
Why don't you just click on keep me logged in, at the login screen? wouldn't that solve the problem your having about the posting.
Yes, try what
_Man_u_barmy_army_ said. You shouldn't get any timeouts this way; I know I haven't been logged out for weeks
I see it on the login screen, and I'll try, but it shouldn't be necessary to do this just to be able to complete a single post, whatever the case the timeout should be something sane.
(thanks for the suggestions, guys)
I could be wrong but the current timeout limit must be 30 minutes of inactivity, as in being idle on the same page even if you're actually writing a post. That is in case you haven't enabled the "keep me logged" checkbox when logging in. I think it's a relatively sane limit.
Then it's not working as expected for me, as when I hit the problem I am actively typing a post (possibly with some interruptions, we live a live of interruptions after all), click REPLY to post it, and it fails due to timeout. Somehow what I do must not be getting counted as activity then, which is odd...
