Hi,

New to football Manager, never played the series since Champ Man, being playing Fifa Manager since then, but that is rubbish in comparison!

Anyway, tried a few formations and really like 4-4-1-1, want to play counter attacking and my tactic seems relatively ok, but I unsure on a couple of things:

1. I want my assistant manager to take training, match prep etc, I can find most of the options in the Team Policy bit, but how do you assign the training to the assistant?

2. My main issue, the strategy, because I want to play counter I tend to just stick to that one strategy. How do you use the different strategies and under what circumstances do you change to Control, Attacking, and do you train these as different tactics or just by using the drop down as and when you need to change?

Also, just some general tips would be great ;o)

Thx

1) the assistant manager dosent do training, the coaches do the training, and its automatic, the match prep is done like you said on the team polocy screen, and they are the only things on that screen taht you can set your AM to do,

2) i personally use and like the 3 tactics set, i have my default which is a counter attacking 4-3-3 (4-1-2-2-1 variation), i use this for most games when i am away from home (counter attacking if good for away games) and i sometime put the style to control/attacking for this formation depending on how the game is going)
i then have a attacking formation of 4-2-2-2 (wingers) which i use against really bad teams to maximise goals/shots and if im in a desperate scenario, like 75th min and 2 goals down in a semi,
i then have a defensive formation set which i like to use if im playing barca or a major team and currently winning, (this is a formation that i change to mid game around 60 mins or so) where i change to 4-2-3-1 Defensive[/counter/control] (2DM's 3 cm's) to aid victory,

and as for other tips, dont look at the big players, there are soo many players in the game you can get simuler stat players for a cheaper wage and cost, so shop around :P

also dont holiday past games, you miss out on team talks and assistants tend to do a worse job :) :P
Great thanks, I do normally let me AM do the team talk, should I take them instead?

Think I will do 4-3-3 narrow and 4-3-3 wide with two wingers and one striker.... counter away and control at home.
