Hamachi Alternative

Hi guys,

Has Hamachi started charging? If so is there an alternative?
Not beeing cheap or anythin but I already pay every year for the new FM when it comes out and I don't really want to be paying for something that people only use because of a failing in the games networking capacity. Plus even if I did pay, I can guarentee at least half of the group of people I play with will refuse :-(
