Champions League Final - F.C. Barcelona (Allianz-Arena)

Formation: 4-3-3

Line-Up: David De Gea, Chris Smalling, Phil Jones, Nemanja Vidic, Patrice Evra, Antonio Valencia, Darren Fletcher, Ashley Young, Danny Welbeck, Wayne Rooney, Dimitar Berbatov
Subs Used: Rafael, Park Ji-Sung, Anderson

In a match where 10 yellow and a red cards were shown, it was a fantastic night and with lots of drama with both teams had plenty of chances.

Iniesta and Wayne Rooney had a chance in the opening minutes but their shots went wide. Young who was included in the absence of Nani had a chance to put Man Utd in front in the 18th min but he hits it high and it went over the bar. Barcelona star player, Messi missed the chance when his header rattled the bar only to find Keirrison who then powered a header at goal but Vidic was just in time to clear off the line for a corner.

In the second-half, Messi had to be stretched off in the 59th min due to an injury after a challenge with Young. Rooney had a chance in the 61st min but once again his shot went just over the bar. In the 79th min, Man Utd were down to 10 men when Fletcher received his second yellow but that doesn't dampened the players spirit, they kept their possession and played simple passing.

The match then went into extra-time. No real threats in the 1st half of the extra-time. It was in the dying final minutes from out of nowhere, Park Ji-Sung feeds Rafael with a nice through ball only the keeper to beat but his shot was block by the defenders and Daniel Alves made a wild clearance for a corner.

And so the match went into penalty shootout. A nervous shootout with both teams confidently converted it and Iniesta who had to score to keep Barcelona in the game missed his attempt as he sent it wide and Man Utd eventually won the game 5-4 in penalty shootout and were crowned the new champions of Europe.

I'm so delighted with the win. The players showed great determination and they played attractive football with lots of passing despite being down 10 men but I was quite annoyed with the cards that were shown tonight.

2011/12 Season Review

So now that the season is over and this is my first season managing Man Utd, I am pleased to announce that overall we had a very good season. We managed to retain our Premier League title for the 20th time, won the League and FA Cup and the sweetest of all is winning the Champions League against Barcelona. The only trophy that we didn’t get was the Community Shield where we lost in penalty shootout.

Throughout this season, my players have played well both the first team squad and a few of my youngsters. For my first team, they shown great determination where there were a couple of matches that they made great comeback example in the Premier League against Tottenham (won 3-2, Wayne Rooney was the hero) and the Champions League Quarter Final against Man City (they lost 2-1 in the first leg but won 4-0 in the second leg). I’m also satisfied with our results against our rivals, only 1 lost (against Chelsea 1-0 at Stamford Bridge) and 2 draws (against Man City both away and home). As for my youngsters, I called them up when playing against the minnow clubs and they played very positively.

Training wise, the players have shown signs of progression, the like of Phil Jones, Rafael, Fabio, Danny Welbeck just to name a few and it’s a good news because I’m building for the future and they are my hopes to bring and continue Man Utd to greater achievement.

So overall I rate this season as and my outstanding player for this season is Phil Jones. The reason why I choose Phil Jones is because not only has he shown signs of progression but he has been consistent throughout the season and he has the highest rating of 7.77, beating the rest of his teammates.

Aim

My aim for next season is to continue to work hard and if possible retain all our winning titles and hopefully we can win the Community Shield as well. For my youngsters, I hope to loan them out so that they can gain more experience as frankly speaking not many of my youngsters out for loan this season.

Future signings

I have shortlisted some of the players that I intend to bring in. They are as follows:

Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Kyriakos Papadopoulos, Eden Hazard, Mario Gotze, Lucas Moura.

Two players have already confirmed joining us this summer. They are Yaya Sanogo and Carlos Fierro.
Other News (Job) - Fabio Capello has offered me the role of Great Britain U23 team manager

I have accepted the offer.
Adi Jr. appointed as Great Britain Under 23s head coach

Great Britain are drawn in Group D together with Cameroon, Mexico and South Korea.
European Super Cup draw

Man Utd vs FC Porto
