Hi everyone,
Before you all start clammering for my blood please remember. I am an old guy trying to have fun OK. The HG- U21 rules plus all the others ruin the game for me sorry. Yes I know these are the 'real' rules but it's just too much. Why on Earth isn't there an option to turn these rules off in preferences. Please don't tell me I'm alone on this. I've found hundreds of people saying the same things as me. It's a pity because it's a GOOD game. Except for these rules. I think I am correct in saying there is no way of editing these rules is there? So if there is no way to do it, it's time for the disc to go in the bin and time to look for another football sim. Fifa comes to mind as the reviews are very good.

I hope you can help me though really. I love the game and this forum.

well depends on the leagues as well. not every league has lots of different rules, so most are still playable.

yes at times annoying, but the game is supposed to be realistic, and well its all part of real life.

but you got the editor to mess around with giving you more freedom to do things your way.

Hi and thanks.

I don't have an editor nor do I know how to use it. Could you or someone help this poor old guy. And yes I am 'old'.

There are a couple out there, the official one that comes out with the game you can find here:
http://www.fmscout.com/q-3509-How-To-Find-The-Official-Football-Manager-2012-Editor.html

Another one is found here:

I'm sorry, but have no idea how to use them since I have never tried, should be someone here who has tho
also some tutorials here: http://www.fmscout.com/c-help.html

it's not so hard, you just open the editor load database and just click and search and mess around. read a bit on forums and such to see how other people have done stuff. in the end you will get the hang of it.
Hi Guys,
sorry not to answer sooner, away from home. As I said, I love this game but not these rules. I'll try to get the editor from the first link above and also check out the tutorials.
Can't thank you all enough for the help.

Keep your fingers crossed.

I've been trying to download the Editor from Steam. Where the hell is it? Someone said
Open Steam -> Library
and
Change All Games to Tools. But I can't find the 'Change All Games to Tools'. Why so much trouble to play a game. If this is the way forward, I'll give up and go fishing. And why do so many people, not you guys, assume we older people understand computers like them.

Thanks Guys

britpol (Les)
Well, here is it you find the download for the FM12 editor:

You have to do this in Steam. First you go to library, then click where it sais "All games" and change it to "Tools"

then after you have clicked "Tools" you get a new screen up. find "Football Manager 2012 Editor" and click it.

Then you go trough the installation guide and then you will have it installed on you'r computer.

Hope this helps

Ejay you are a star. Yes I think I have done it. Now I need to learn how to remove the foreign players and Home grown rules in the Editor. Do you know how or where I can find details to do it?

Thank you my friend,

britpol (Les)
Haven't used the editor before, so this is just from what iv'e tested out and read just now. Think this should work. First I fond a guide here witch i found helpful. CLICK HERE

So you follow this guide and get to the player you want to edit. To make a player home grown in England he have to have been contracted to the club for 3 years between the age of 15 and 21. As i see it, this means you have to edit the date the player joined the club. I looked at Van Persie.

Not 100% sure this will work, if it doesn't just let me know and I will do more research on the matter.

So in this case i believe that changing the date the player joined the club will do the trick. for example with Van Persie here being born 6.8.1983 he will have to have joined the club between 6.8.1998 and 6.8.2001 to make the 3 year rule.

If this isn't working, i suggest trying to change his "Contract started" date to make it fit what I wrote above here.

Hope this gets you what you need.
Just looked around some more in the Editor and found this:

This looks like it solves your problem really, might be that you need to edit what I wrote in the previous post as well not to create any conflicting information on the player, I have no idea. But this really looks like should be the solution to the problem with players not being home grown.

You can also change the attributes of the players, but this i think ruins the whole point of the game, is ok to change small things if it means one doesn't quit playing the game because of it.

But beyond this I think you should just fiddle with the program and figure things out, is how you become good at it, not like you can ruin much anyway, is always the fail-safe with re-installing things.

Plus... FIFA Manager's scouting system is completely rubbish. You'll hate it after an hour, because you cannot find players. The only thing good about that game is the visual presentation. The fun stuff doesn't exist
Thanks Guys,

I'll check things out Ejay.

Hi,
Just one more question on this subject. When I opened the editor and put my team in the search, the one I got was not the one I'm playing. I can't find it nor any of the players I have. I just get the team as if it were new with no saves.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

britpol (Les)
I don't know, but have you tried making any change and go in your game to see if the change is applied in your saved game?
