Striker roles

Is there any way to change the preferred role of a striker?

For example, I am Burnley and play Jay Rodriguez as a lon striker in an attacking 4-5-1. His preffered role is target man but I would much sooner he played as trequartista or failing that advanced forward.

Is there any way of training him to prefer them roles or do you just have to play him and he grows into the role?

You can't forcibly ask him to change, but over time if you play him in a certain role it will develop into his preferred role.

I Just play players in 'my role' . not 'their role' , if Jay is a TM , and you want to play him as AF , just play him as AF , worth a try though

True enough, i played my AF as a poacher and it became his preferred role,
Same as all the other positions - play a defender in midfield and he becomes a midfielder (over time).

Found a better wayu round it, gave him target man but just changed the setting for target man supply tyo 'Run onto ball' he's smashing it now
