Simon Grayson after the famous 1-0 victory at Old Trafford against rivals Manchester United
It has emerged today that Leeds United manager Simon Grayson has resigned following a meeting with the board. Sources close to the club say that his resignation comes following the board´s decision to sell the clubs key players such as Bradley Johnson, Neil Kilkenny, Max Gradel and Kasper Schmeichel without giving him the funds for adequate replacements.
This has obviously shocked the masses of Leeds supporters who hailed Simon Grayson for his success at Leeds which included promotion from League One as well as overachieving in their first year back in the Championship having narrowly missed out on a playoff spot as they finished 7th, just 3 points behind eventual semi-finalists, Nottingham Forest.
Speculation regarding his replacement is rife. It is reported that Alan Curbishley has emerged as the favourite at 3/1 according to the club's betting partner Sportingbet.com. Other candidates are Gianfranco Zola at 7/3, Billy Davies at 10/8, as well as club legends Lucas Radebe and Josh Townend at 20/1 and 5/3 respectively. New caretaker manager Glyn Snodin- formerly Grayson's assistant manager- has been tipped to take the job on permanently at 35/1.
