Another very talented cb is Raphael Varane from real madrid. For arsenal his potential will definitly be 4 stars at least. After about 4 season he will undoubtebly be the best cb in the game.

My pairing for CB is Dede and Danny Wilson. Both are young good defenders who definitely turn into star players. You need to pay north of 10 million for Dede but he pops up with a few goals too. Wilson cost only 7 million and at the moment I'm on a 23 match unbeaten run in the league with arsenal. Another interesting note, got Wilson in FM 11 as well and in a few short years he was the highest rated defender in the game. Probably the same story in FM 12.

get Toby Alderweireld from Ajax pick him up for 5m first season. quality for the price. On my save with Tottennham he is worth 10m now. Hope this helps you

Try Yaroslav Rakitskiy for 7.5 million, play him as a ball playing defender and set the other centre back as Limited Defender, that should solve the problem u have.

I just started an arsenal game. I realised there defense was very weak so bought jordi alba 12.5m who is a very talented left back i bought otamendi 13m and mikel san jose 6m these two are both very good young cb's who can only get better. I then finished my spending spree by buying wilfried zaha and carlos fierro because they will turn in to world beating strikers.

Been playing with Arsenal and Vermaelen-Merte partnership is awesome if you apply it perfectly.

Play Traditional Back 4 with Mertesacker having instructions to sweep behind Vermaelen.I have been using that and I have conceded least number of goals till now in my season around 25 where second best teams that have conceded less are around 32.

I have been leading the table in March by 10 points and Won League cup, in Quarters for FA cup and Almost through to QFs for Champions league.
