Hello people...I'm looking to do a journey man story as a manager but was wondering if I start with Barcelona win everything in 2 years with them and then say go to a league 1 side in England would my reputation still be good enough to get a job at a bigger European team after I've finished in league one? After all I will have won champions league etc ??
hmm good question i'm not sure, personally i would start from league 1 then build your way up.

I once won the World Cup with San Marino. It took an absurd amount of 16 year old San Marinese players signed for my AC Milan youth squad, and, by some absurd stroke of luck, my goalkeeper was brilliant. By the time the world cup turned around, I had a bunch of 20, 21 year olds ready to play in Brazil (this was in FM 2008). The players were playing all together in my AC Milan under 20s with the only goal to be to bring them to the World Cup. A combination of team-blend, speed+strength on the flanks, sheer luck, and, in a more cases then I care to mention, sheer balls, I made it to the final of the World Cup, and played 120 minutes against Italy, before beating my "bigger" neighbours at their own game: penalties.

The world, in absolute shock, made my reputation skyrocket. In fact... my reputation was growing about as fast as the San Marinese team's world rankings.

Coincidentally, the manager at AC Ajaccio, the team I wanted to manage was busy having no manager, after being relegated to the third league, and, while I applied for the job more than once, it took the team 3 months (to bring a WC and CL winning manager with underdogs) for them to FINALLY give me a job offer, because they thought that they couldn't come up with the resources to hire someone as successful as I was, when my reputation stayed the same. Using three San Marinese players I led Ajaccio to greatness in Ligue 1.

So, while you may think that your reputation dropping by moving, I'd be more worried about a League 1 outfit offering you a job after manager Barcelona...
you're rep will depend on how well you do with a certain club and also has to do with the starting rep i.e whether you choose sunday league footballer or international etc, on my save with Crawley and Liverpool my lverpool manager has a slightly higher status even though i have taken Crawley from league 2 to Premier League and now Europa League

So in m opinion, it would be better to do well with a big club to get the higher reputation rather than starting from a lower club and working up.
Thanks guys...I'm looking at being barca until I've won everything and Then moving on to maybe another big club if I can and win everything with them... Or like I stated a challenge for a while and build a club up and leave them in a good position and move again!!!
i personally find it hard to use barcelona, but its personal preference at the end of the day isnt it? lol good luck with whatever you decide
i agree with 1650yo. its harder using bigger teams because there is so msuch pressure to deliver. but being a small club you are given alot more time to produce the goods
