Need help against stronger opponents

Hi guys,

I've got a problem with my team when I play against stronger opponents. I can't get a good result against them and it's really frustrating, especially when I'm winning easily against similar/smaller teams...

I'm looking for a solid defensive tactic because the big teams score a lot against me and I was hoping you guys could help me with that.

I'm managing Eendracht Aalst in Belgium.
I promoted to the first division in my first season and finished 6th in my second.
I want to do better this season but that means that I have to start playing better against the bigger teams. The only tactics that i use are really attacking ones so that's why I came here for help.

tbh with you attacking big teams is the only way to go, if u sit back against bigger teams they will kill you .. ive made my own tactic that i use with an unorthadox formation. ill post a screenshot of the formation if u want

I have one more question:
Before the games I let my assisstant do the opposition instructions, is it better to do these myself or is this not that important?

It's better to do this yourself. You really know what you are expecting for the next match not your assistant. If you concede a lot from set pieces against the big teams, set focus match preparation on defending set pieces. If you also concede from normal play, set it to Defensive positioning. This should help you.

I hear that when you play defensively it is hard to find vctory. Well I found this to be false. For example in my second season as Leeds manager I used 4-5-1, defensive midfielder, and won against big teams: Liverpool 2-1, Man City 2-1, Tottenham 3-1, Arsenal 4-2, Chelsea 5-3.

I've never played defensively ever . The aim of the game is to go out and score goals and that's what I set my team out to do

as I can see by my tactic is that we only play 2 defenders and 2 wingbacks

Any more help needed, send me a private message. been unbeaten for a season with liverpool in all competitions. In my second season and still unbeaten after 23 games in the league.

Mate, would you mind posting a screenshot of your team instructions? I have a tactic which works brilliantly against smaller/equal teams but I always get slaughtered playing teams who are even slight favourites. Cheers, Rob.

I was standard for 4 years and there are 5 top teams Standard,Anderlect,Club Brugge,AA Gent and Genk.They always make the final cut,the top 5 are yard's ahead of the rest,u need to buy better player's.I suggest R.Funes Mori,and try get Yoni Buyen's and make him captain.Tactic based u need to go for the attacking option with a defensive mentallity,in a 4-5-1 formation and make R.Funes Mori your targetman he will get u goals in that league trust me he will.

Hey mate, I have the same problem with my Wigan team! I always lose against stronger team. Is there any particular tactic that you can recommend? I am using the default team instructions.

The reason you are normally getting battered is because you are Wigan.

But seriously, try slowing down the play, and really make sure you are containing their main threats as much as you can.
