For example in my second season as Leeds manager I used 4-5-1, defensive midfielder, and won against big teams: Liverpool 2-1, Man City 2-1, Tottenham 3-1, Arsenal 4-2, Chelsea 5-3.wow thats good can you tell me did you find leeds hard at start . i can not get any success with them

My tactic just doesn't work against them
It's certainly not out of the realm of possibility that losing against top teams is because... well... they're better. But the AI isn't as good as you, so it can be done Many of us have trouble with playing "defensive" because all you do is sit and soak up pressure, and eventually your players will make a mistake or two and you lose 2-0. That's not the same as picking a defensively oriented formation and emphasizing compactness and responsibility, but you're going to have to try to play higher up the pitch to not make it so easy for the other side. We see this in real-life matches every day, where the weaker team eventually slides back so they're playing 10 in the box, in the end the good result rarely comes. The epitome of a defensive team that doesn't play defensively is Barcelona, after all... they defend by not letting you have the ball, making sure to win it back if they lose it, and cover up rather poor set piece defending by playing in a way that rarely has them conceding set pieces the opponent could score from.
In playing a team that's still somewhat better, but the gulf isn't vast, it's the mental stuff that's going to matter - if it makes sense, pick players with higher determination, concentration, anticipation rather than picking for physical abilities, and see if that helps out.
