Hi

As the Title and Description say, I cannot get going on my FM2008 game playing as Bognor Regis.

I have brought in a few players (some of the ones offloaded by Raith and Farsley, as well as Scott McCoubrey and Mark Jones (16 y/o striker) and four out-of-contract players at Llanelli including the goalkeepers Duncan Roberts and Gareth Williams, so I have a pretty good squad on paper but on the field they are badly letting me down.

I lost 4-0 to Selsey (little town near the sea in the south of England) and 3-0 to AFC Wimbledon (then a Ryman Premier side). I cannot get near the opponents goal, and all my goals are given offside.

Had a gutsful and very peed off. It's a conspiracy I tell ya!

So, can somebody good and true on here please tell me what the solution is - what amazing tactic/s do I need, as it's obvious there has to be an answer to this.

Thanks, I really don't want to end up not wanting to play FM2008 as it's one of the FM's I like most (I'm not fond of Steam and try to avoid installing it) as it's straightforward to play. The thing that's annoying me is not being able to win fairly (if I was playing Manchester United and lost 4-0 then I'd accept that as part of life, but I cannot and will not accept losing to Selsey and other lower-ranked sides - and yes I didn't save the game haha, ever felt like you were being cheated ;)
)

Gracias muchly.
Well, I can't criticize you for liking FM08, I had a lovely game on it that went on absolutely forever... both in terms of the game world, but also in real life, I never even bothered with FM09 because I was "still playing". It started with Burton Albion on a lark to see if I could replicate their real-life promotion which I already knew had happened when I started the game. I could, but in the second season a job offer came from struggling Portsmouth, who were then in the top division, and about a year later, another one from Newcastle. Massive success there, then after thinking I was done with club football, ended up deciding I wasn't and another long run at Chelsea. Some national teams in there as well.

Not much specific advice to give you; in general terms, play simple at first, set up training programs to make your players better, get the best coach(es) you can, and worry about recruitment all the time. Scotland and Ireland are generally where you can get some bargains if you're in the conference (I see you looked in Wales), and occasionally some castoffs of bigger English clubs, but they're really tough to convince, and tough on your budget, until you at least get up to the Premier div. Then you're only one good season from promotion to the League, and some will go for that. Be prepared to be p****d off when you find a great youngster and after a good season (or even a half) they're pinched off you. Be prepared... and have someone else lined up to go for right away.
Thanks for the advice!

Might try the Benny tactic out, or poke about with 4-2-3-1/4-3-3
