Duplicate player unable to assign squad number

Hi All,

I have a awesome young player coming through the ranks.
But his name is shown twice always. When I try to assign squad number to him, it gives an error "One more player needs to assigned a number". Then I try to give the duplicate player a number bu then the squad number is shown is -1. I am using Football Manager 2012 version 12.0.2
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

Hi. Just encountered the same as well. All the symptons as you describe them. Also, he seems to be getting twice his salary since there's two of him. I'm running FM14.1.3
