Tactic advise needed for 1860 Munchen

Hi,

I'm 1860 munchen in the german first division, season 13/14. I just took them over at the start of pre-season, they had just been promoted (don't know why the manager got sacked seemed a bit weird to me). Bought a few good players but still feel like i'm far behind any other team in the league and can't win for love nor money, and also having trouble scoring goals.
Anyway, i'm here to ask for tactical advise to try and be more defensive (i'm normally very attacking but i haven't got the squad for it) but also trying to score as many goals to win (obviously). I haven't got any good MC in my squad but have 3 good DMs, which i am looking to utilise not necessarily at the same time. I have a striker Libor Kozak from Lazio, who has 16 - finishing, 20 - heading, 16- bravery, 19 - strength, 17- jumping etc but he is getting low ratings below 5 as i really don't know how to use him.

Any advise would be greatfully received,

Thanks
Sam
Here we go:

5-2-0-1-2

Keep 4 semi-decent defenders in the back, and one of your more aggressive DMs as a "ball playing defender - support" (but make sure he has short passes) in the back 5. Ignore his positional ability for DC, he'll be fine. Depending on the team you are against, alternate between having attacking or defensive full backs. Obviously, against stronger teams you want them to be defensive.

Use two more of the DMs in standard defensive midfielder roles. Hopefully one of them is a DLP, so have a "Defensive midfielder - Defensive" and a "DLP - support". Set the player with the poorer passing skill as your DM, and make sure he has short passes. The DLP will have "very long" as his passing style, and this is because you're going to play a Counter-attacking style. Your DM and your BPD will pass to the DLP, who will, in turn pass to either of the full backs (who will be running forwards) or to the top three.

the 1-2 in attack should include your Libor Kozak as a Target man with the attack duty, while you should match him up with two fast players. I'm assuming Kozak isn't very fast, so your DLP will make the pass to Kozak, who will, in turn either shoot, or pass it to the fast player who will probably have a 1 on 1 with the GK. Ideally, his matchup in attack should have high Acceleration, Pace, first touch, and finishing. Try Leigh Griffiths of Wolves. The player behind Kozak and (Griffiths, who should have the assignement of "Poacher") should be someone with high first touch and passing, and (I think) should be a "Trequarista". JUst make sure that he plays through balls often, and doesn't take long shots. You don't want to take a long shot, when you can have a 1 on 1 with the keeper.
