#59662 YoungOwl : Same thing as Akash said, will be good to see how this turns out in the future, especially against Celtic and in Europe.

It's gonna be tough but it helps that I still have the likes of Lee Wallace, Neil Alexander, Broadfoot and McCulloch. Had to get in free regens which doesn't hurt but the real players don't want to sign for me which is irritating =/ even on loan as well
Damn Patrick this was my idea, how dare you steal it ;)?

Well you can still do it if you want to :) cos we'll both be doing it differently like different tactics and signing different players :P

I know, I signed 10 players in pre-season so far. And I feel for you on the players not wanting to come situation, Roque Santa Cruz ACTUALLY didn't want to come on loan, unbelievably ;)

Great start in the Challenge Cup ahead of the new season. 16 year old Darren Ramsay headed us in the lead after a whipping cross from Kal Naismith. Rhys McCabe then put us 2-0 up. This time a cross from Lavery. It took McCabe 3 attempts to put the ball in net after the 2 attempts had rebounded off the post. Ramsay then put us 3-0 after firing in from a tight angle and flow passing move. Lavery continued to show his potential by finding the net after Andrews dilly dallied on the ball and Lavery nicked it off him and completed the rout.

We faced Queen of the South in the SLC 1st Round. Things got off to a positive start with Ross Perry heading us in the lead from a Kyle Hutton corner. It stayed 1-0 at half time and I encouraged the team and they seemed to have listened as Rhys McCabe put us 2-0 and into the next round following a good turn of pace and a cross for Kevin Caddis.

First game of the S2D had us against Stenhousemuir and we didn't disappoint by dominating the game and cruising to a 4-1 victory. Kevin Caddis put us in the lead scoring from close range with his weaker foot. Things got bad as we conceded a goal following poor defending which allowed Keith Murray to find the net with a powerful strike. I was certainly not pleased about that. Rangers Newco were then awarded a free kick which Kyle Hutton took and found Chris Hegarty who scored with a diving header. Kevin Caddis then put us 3-1 up with a powerful strike just outside the area. I chucked on Darran Ramsay and I'm glad I did as he put us 4-1 up safe and sound after an excellent pass from Kyle Hutton that put Ramsay 1 on 1 with the keeper who blasted it in the top right corner. Very good win and an excellent all round performance.

Back to the Challenge Cup round 2 we faced Annan Athletic and had a comfortable 2-0 victory with Lavery and Harper getting us the goals. Lee McCulloch had a penalty saved by the keeper. Round 3 we face Livingston.

Heading back to the SD2 we faced QOTS at Ibrox and recorded yet another comfortable victory by winning 4-0. We completely outplayed them. Lavery who I am running out of words with to praise him, put us in the lead after a short pass from Chris Hegarty who then grabbed a goal for himself soon before half time from a Kyle Hutton free kick. On the 62nd minute John Potter saw a moment of embarrassment after trying to clear the ball for a corner yet the ball trailed into the back of the net. It was rather amusing to see. Lavery got his 2nd goal of the game after a good passing move and saw Ryan Harper feed the ball to Lavery as he moved into space. Another excellent performance from Lavery.

The referee was certainly busy in this game as it was quite a dirty game and also controversial handing out 7 bookings (2 to forfar and 5 for rangers newco), a penalty and a red card. The game started off fairly slowly with Rangers picking up a few yellow cards before yes that man again, Lavery put us ahead from close range as McCabe had found Caddis who passed the ball to Lavery. Rhys McCabe was then received a 2nd yellow card following a challenge on Robertson which seemed to be a clean challenge. Forfar were awarded a penalty on 45+4 minute after Broadfoot had brought down Cronesberry in the box. I feared that Forfar would equalise. Up stepped Chris Templeman and...........NEIL ALEXANDER PARRIED THE BALL AWAY GREAT SAVE! 1-0 at half time. I was certainly pleased and showed in the 2nd half that we are capable of playing with 10 men as Lavery found the net again as the opposing keeper had flapped at a shot by Wallace which fell to Lavery and tapped it into the net and that is how it finished.

We then faced St Johnstone in the SLC Round 2 who were favourites for the tie. We showed that we are no pushovers as we knocked them out thanks to Kal Naimsith who put us in the lead just before half time after an excellent pass from Harper. Through to the next round where we face Celtic. Oh dear.

Great month for Rangers Newco as they collect 3 awards

Caolan Lavery collected the player of the month as he netted 4 league goals in 3 appearances and 6 in 6 in all competitions. Hegarty finished in 2nd whilst McAnespie of Arbroath was 3rd.

Hegarty meanwhile collected the young player of the month after impressing in games and grabbing 2 goals in 3. Kyle Hutton finished 2nd and Martin Boyle of Montrose 3rd.

Patrick McKeown collected the manager of the month after guiding his team to all 3 victories in the 3 league games. Paul Sheerin of Arbroath finished 2nd and Brian Reid of Ayr finished 3rd

No transfers for quite a while then

A global transfer ban has been placed upon Rangers Newco and cannot sign anyone until August 2013. With the current squad I should be alright and have some hot prospects coming through.

One question though. Can I still buy players on a free transfer or not?

September Results

Rangers continued their fine form into the season with an easy win over East Fife. Young, talented striker Lavery got the opening goal with a beauty after dribbling the ball past 3 players before thumping it into the net. It went better as Kal Naismith increased our lead with a short range strike. I was really pleased with how the game was going. Just after the half an hour mark, Lee Wallace won the ball back and thumped it down-field to Naismith who ran with the ball and set up Caddis with a tap in. 3-0 the score.

We then were up against Arbroath who were also in the race for promotion and I thought it would be quite tough but Rangers played very well and got another 3-0 win which we deserved. McCabe who was put immediately back in the team after a 1 match suspension put us in the lead from a cross by Caddis. Shortly after the second half Lavery put us further in the lead as Kaddis won the header and was powerful enough to put Lavery through on goal. McCabe grabbed his 2nd and Rangers 3rd goal of the afternoon when Perry found Ramsay in space on the right wing and whipped in a low cross for McCabe to tap in.

Next up was Montrose at Ibrox. We were expected to win comfortably but only managed a 1-0 result courtesy of Kevin Caddis. We did struggle but defended very well and what was important was the win. Not a lot to say about this game.

In the Challenge Cup 3rd round we faced Livingston who were in the SLD 1 and managed to beat them 1-0 thanks to an early 5th minute goal from Lavery firing in from close range. Livingston had a man sent off later on in the second half after receiving a 2nd yellow card. We face Morton in the semi final.

Back to the league we faced Dumbarton and recorded another comfortable victory by defeating them 3-0. Another clean sheet by Neil Alexander who is at the top of his game at the moment. Kyle Hutton grabbed his first goal of the season hitting the ball in the net from close range. It was 1-0 at half time. In the second half we definitely improved and got our 2nd goal of the game as Naimsith skipped past a few players to set up Caddis with a left footed strike. With a few minutes remaining, Ross Perry got his first goal of the season from a Kyle Hutton corner.

Am I imagining things?

What a result!!! What a result!!! Celtic were clear favourites heading into this Scottish League Cup 3rd round tie against their bitter rivals Rangers who definitely showed they are no pushovers by thrashing Celtic 3-1 after extra time. Ryan Harper put us in the lead with a very good header after a cross from Lee Wallace. After the second half, former Man City and Greek striker, Samaras equalised for Celtic after a poor clearance from Wallace then Lee McCulloch and just miscommunication between the defence and the goalkeeper which allowed Samaras to tap it in. 1-1 was the score at full time so the game went to extra time and stayed 1-1 at half time. It looked like it would go to the dreaded penalties until after a good passing move found Brebner who sliced open the defence to find Caddis who put us in front. Lavery made the game safe as Criestig dilly dallied on the ball and Andy Little won the ball back to put in Lavery who put the ball in the net despite coming under pressure. 3-1 the score and we face Falkirk in the next round.

I claimed the manager of the month for the 2nd time in a row after a 100% record in September.

This is how the table looks like at the moment. Have a game in hand against Ayr. We are scoring many goals and only conceded 1 goal. Could not literally ask for more :)
Doing well, looks like you will be in the SPL by next week. Keep it up :) Shame about the transfer embargo but looks like you should be ok for now playerwise!

Im only in Division 2 at the moment another season til im in the SPL. It's going to be really hard in Division 1 because of the January sales and the board took over transfers which meant Neil Alexander, Wallace, Ross Perry, Broadfoot and McCulloch all left :( so got a very young squad. Couple of experienced players but not many. Hopefully a miracle happens and I get millions pumped into the club for transfers.
did you have to create a new club yourself or was it with a data download??
data download :) well done so far mate
