Update - Barber switches to Cambridge!

Woah, what happened? Why would you leave Gangneung? Surely because of the confusing names, right? They pissed me off too!
Good luck with Cambridge.
Did you not the update in the form of a press conference stating I wanted to leave Gangneung? Oh, and the names, everyone's name beings with Kim, much rather manage in England, where everyone doesn't have the same name and I can pronounce their names too :))
I remember that one day when my three scorers were Lee Seung-Hwan, Lee Seong-Hwan and Hwan Seung-Min.
I had read that update of yours, but that was followed by an update which said you were staying, so I thought you would get them to the K-league.

Where Cambridge Stand

As you can see from the screenshot below there is a problem with Cambridge, that being the finances, you can see that they are over budget by just less than £2K.

To sort out the issue with the wages I've had to release a few players, this screenshot also shows what the previous manager did in terms of transfers. Just to note, I took charge on the 22nd of November, so you can see what transfer I have done - mainly get rid of deadwood or any U18 players with potential of 2 stars or less.

I also have the current team report, which shows that the only areae the team could be improved on quite a bit are strikers and fullbacks - but that will have to wait till next season due to the wage issue, unless I can load off a few more in the January transfer window.

Finally, the current league standings, we are currently in 17th place with 21 points, personally I'm aiming for around 10th to 13th in the table, but with 26 games left, a total of 84 points up for grabs, anything is possible.

I said if I couldn't find a club I wouldn't sign a new contract, but Cambridge approached me with 1 month left on my contract, and the league confuses me, didn't know how to get into the K-League.

The Korean league system is very simple, just that there was no promotion in the first season. In the second season, the top six go into playoffs and then, the winner of those playoffs gets promoted. No use telling you now obviously.

First 5 games in charge

The first 5 games have gone perfectly, won every single one. I have noticed that some investment is going to be needed upfront, because Pugh is borderline blind with 2 hands for feet.

Busy times for Cambridge

It was an early Wednesday morning, and I had called for a meeting with my ass man, Roy McFarland and our scout, David Crooks. Once they arrived and got settled, I began.

Me
Roy McFarland
David Crooks

Right gentleman, this is going to be a busy month for us, and I'm certainly going to need your help, as you know we're over budget, so I've got a list of 5 that need either selling or releasing.

Can I see the list, boss?

Of course.

Barber hands over his notepad, which lists 5 , which McFarland reads out.

Tommy Evans, Keiran Mortagh, Jack Eade..

David Crooks swiftly interrupts.

Jack Eades!? I thought he had a future at this club boss? I personally scouted him, I'm certain he has a future here.

Yes, Jack Eades, and I know you put a lot of work into his profile, but I've watched him Crooks, I honestly think he won't be able to earn himself a first position, especially if the club is to move forwards. Trust me Crooks, I know what I'm doing.

Boss, the other 2 here, Andy Pugh and Ryan Charles are on loan to Cambridge C. We can't get rid of them yet, they have to stay there and complete there deal, we didn't have a recall clause, remember?

I know, Roy, we'll release them once they return, Charles is earning £700 per week, that kind of money for someone who doesn't even currently for us is ridiculous, there's better who will for less.

Now that we have the players we should get rid of out of the way, let's talk about who we should bring in, obviously this depends on how much money we have left in the wage budget. Crooks, I've been looking at your scout report and there's I want on the shortlist, and for you to scout further.

Who are they, boss?

I've got them written down here, but make sure you scout them well, cause I think they could be real talents, you got that? Right, they are Jhon Pirez, Daniel Murray, Barry Pardie, Sam Walker, David Amoo and Josh Parker. Don't screw this up Crooks.

I'm not going to boss, I promise.

Good, now you may leave. Roy, you stay, we still have work to do.

David Crooks leaves the room, while Roy stand there nervously, wondering what the boss wants.

Barber quickly reassures Roy.

Don't worry Roy, nothing bad is going to happen, relax. I need you to do 2 important things for me. First off, I want you to compile a loan report for strikers, we need someone else upfront, Marriot is doing a great job, he can't handle 2 in a week, especially now Pugh has gone. Secondly, I want you to fire some staff.

Fire some staff? But why boss? Everyone's doing there job correctly.

I know, I know, but in order for this club to move some people will have to go.

Roy reluctantly agrees.

Fine, I guess that makes sense, who are they?

Our , Michael Cahill, he needs to go. Our training facilities aren't going to be improved anytime soon, this club needs to save the money, therefore we need better coaches in order for our lads to improve. I also want David Crooks fired, after he's returned with the reports on those .

Crooks? Surely not boss, what's he done wrong?

You saw, he thought Eades would be good at this club, look how that turned out, he's just using up our wage budget when he shouldn't be. I hate to say it but he's got to go, he's a good fella. but he doesn't have a place here. Once they're gone I'll set about hiring new staff. I think that's all Roy, you may leave too now.

2 New Arrivals at Cambridge

The first of which is Adam Birchall from Gillingham Reserves, being 28 he has experience under his belt, which will help in what is mainly a young squad, depending on his form, I think he will be our main striker for the rest of the season, and it will also ease off the pressure on Marriot. In addition, we don't even have to pay any of his wages, completely free until the end of the season

The second is Sam Walker on a free transfer, a young and talented goalkeeper who should take over Bettinelli when his loan spell finishes, however right now I can't afford a back up keeper and the current one has a 1 and a half star rating. So if Walker goes on a bad form that will be pretty troubling.

The Next 5

Here are the screenshots from the next 5 games at Cambridge, I honestly think we could of won against Nuneaton and Lincoln but a busy schedule probably ruined our chances, not much we could do about that. Currently got 26 points from a possible 30, which is very good. I would have to say our most influential players are Wylde, Marriot, Vilhete and Marriot.

More new faces at Cambridge

We have successfully got Callum Reilly, a young winger, on loan from AFC Wimbledon, and experienced Lewis Haldane from Port Vale. Reilly is more of a physical player, and the same goes for Haldane, which is probably better in the lower leagues, and from their stats you can tell they're not very technical, however he was brought in until the end of the to help with the current fixtures, we have 7 in 21 days and with such a small this is proving to be difficult, plus we don't have to contribute at all to their wages.

Next 5 results to follow shortly.

The run continues, 5 more games down

I have to say the Cambridge squad are a talented bunch and are playing really well for me, not sure how my predecessor managed to get the sack. However, I would say we got luck on our side for these games, especially against Grimsby, it has been a busy month, with not much time for the players to rest. So the players loaned in definitely helped out, giving our players a chance to rest. Still looking to loan in another player as my backup midfielder remains injured.

Another player to Cambridge on loan

This time it's young midfielder Gnarby from Arsenal, mainly to rest our main midfielders and provide a backup option in case of another injury or a bad run of form from one of them. Coming from Arsenal he will of obviously worked with good coaches so will know how to play good football, just what we need if we are to progress even further.

Another 5 games down

We are doing very well still, Cambridge are a very able and talented bunch, which is rare to find in the lower leagues. However, we did lose our unbeaten run against Kettering from 2 defensive errors, really disappointing, but that's football. The performances have been good still throughout, the players loaned in have settled very well. Personally, I've noticed Birchall play very well, scoring 4 goals in just 5 games for us, I've also noticed Luke Berry become more influential, he a sublime 30 yard effort in the game against Kettering and hiss pass completion has been on the rise, it's now 78%, which is 3rd overall. I'll provide a full player review at the end of the .
