Spearhead Cisse Sparks Delight At The Toon

Newcastle 4-1 Stoke
Papiss Cisse (3)
Mike Williamson

An excellent display. Demba Ba created the first two for Cisse before he sealed his hatrick with a penalty. Mike Williamson then headed in a corner to complete the rout. Cisse is already proving to be a talisman up front and Ba has showed that he has great attacking intelligence.

Davide Santon - 10 days out

Fulham's Fine Hour

Fulham 2-0 Newcastle

"Both goals were from set pieces - something that our defence need to perhaps work on in match preparation.I am appalled at the lack of creativity and lack of effort put into this game. But saometimes that just how football is"

September 19th:

25 year old 3rd choice goalkeeper Rob Elliot joins Preston on loan for a month.

September 20th:

BLACKOUT!

Blackpool 0-3 Newcastle
Neil Eardley
Shola Ameobi (Pen)
Alex John-Baptiste

"We absouloutley dominated them. We took the lead very early on when Obertan's looping effort struck the bar and Moyo's rebound effort struck Eardley on its way in. Then just before half time we were awarded a penalty when Eardley fouled Obertan. Ameobi then stepped up - just as he did in the previous round against Crewe and slots hom the penalty. In the 2nd half Blackpool were much more lively they created more chances but LuaLua and Taylor-Fletcher must have forgot their shooting boots as they squandering a dozen of them. Another own goal then sealed it late on as Moyo's cross evaded the keeper and Obertan pressured Baptiste so that he headed it into his own net. A fine display all round and a spectacular effort from the wingers tonight"

Bradden Inman joins Gateshead on loan.

Carling Cup 4th Round draw: Newcastle vs Wolves 26th October

Demba Ba Above Par

Manchester City 1-1 Newcastle
Demba Ba
Demba Ba 4 weeks out
Sylvain Marveaux

"A superb result away to one of the best teams in the league. They dominated us early on and took the lead when a lack of concentration allowed Sergio Aguero to tap it in and they caught us napping. But just a few minutes later - Demba Ba bagged his first goal for the club when a controversial error - a poorly sighted backpass towards Hart from Clichy allowed Cisse to sqaure it for his Senegalese counterpart. Ba then went off injured and was followed soo after by Marveaux but both sides had a handful of shots on target and credit is deserved for both keepers who were the difference in that game"

Hatem Ben Arfa has resumed full training.
