Hi everyone, I got questions about preferred moves in the game.

Does "dives into tackles" mean tendency for players to go down easily to get a penalty or tendency to tackles more?

And does "does not dives into tackles" mean tendency to stay on foot more when facing tackles from opponents or tendency to doesn't want to get involved in tackling opponents?

I always thought "dives into tackles" means go down easily to get a penalty and "does not dives" means stay on foot more, but when I noticed some players (ryan shawcross, phil jones, michael dawson) had "dives into tackles" on their list, i begin to questioning myself.

Please explain it to me...
Football games aren't allowed to include diving when linked with any football association as this is cheating and the respective FA's see it as bad to promote cheating within the game. This option refers to tendencies for slide tackles or standing tackles. So when players are set to 'dive into tackles' it means they'll slide more, potentially being dragged out of position and drawing numerous yellow cards. If the don't dive into tackles, they will stand off, or 'jockey' until the tackle has to be made. Against players with high flair and technique, these stand off players will be played around.

Although Callum's explanation seems more appropriate, the language itself makes it clear. "Dives into tackles" is the player committing into tackles..whereas diving would have been "diving while tackled".

Thank you Callum & Akash it really helps! For years I always thought the other way & trained my defenders to "does not dives" haha it's so embarassing but now I know, thank you once again!

You are reading "dives or does not dives into tackles?".
