Slick Saints Hammer Hammers

Southampton produced a fine display to get their first win of the season over West Ham, winning 3-0 at St Mary's. Adam Lallana continued his fine form to score a curling effort from the edge of the area. Jose Fonte doubled the lead with a rare header before half time, after which Rickie Lambert scored a typically powerful effort past Jussi Jääskeläinen. Adam Walker was seemingly delighted at the end of the match, saying in the post-match interview "We were simply brilliant. West Ham didn't get anywhere near us and our excellent teamwork won it for us. Credit to West Ham, they did have chances, but our defence dealt with them."

Adam Lallana (2) (Southampton)
Jose Fonte (10) (Southampton)
Rickie Lambert (52) (Southampton)

Jose Fonte (Southampton)

Final Score: Southampton 3-0 West Ham

Next Game: Stoke (Away)
For the next three games, I'm just going to do the result, goalscorers and my opinion in one bulk. Sorry for the inconvenience!
Stoke 2-1 Southampton

Rickie Lambert (42) (Southampton)
Dean Whitehead (48) (Stoke)
Matthew Etherigton (69) (Stoke)

Another result that we lost from a winning position. Seriously need to consider brining in a whole new back four, QPR style!

QPR 3-2 Southampton

Gaston Ramirez (42) (Southampton)
Djibril Cisse (43) (QPR)
Djibril Cisse (55) (QPR)
Adam Lallana (60) (Southampton)
Park Ji-Sung (85) (QPR)

A late, late goal none of the team was expecting! Again, too many goals conceded.

Newcastle 2-1 Southampton

Jermaine Pennant (30) (Newcastle)
Rickie Lambert (32) (Southampton)
Kelvin Davis (o.g) (85) (Newcastle)

Gutting. All three of these games feel like 3 points dropped but we were playing so well against Newcastle that I felt we could win it.
Going to do monthly updates from now on, just because it saves my time and you don't have to read as much!
The first sacking of the season goes to.... ASTON VILLA!!!!

November 2012

Southampton 4-2 Liverpool

Morgan Schneiderlin (28) (Southampton)
Luis Suarez (39) (Liverpool)
Jamie Carragher (o.g) (45) (Southampton)
Fabio Borini (49) (Liverpool)
Vasilis Torosidis (o.g) (53) (Southampton)
Gaston Ramirez (90+1) (Southampton

What a result!! Liverpool were second at this point so that makes this win even sweeter!!! Tried a new tactic with a counter attack and it obviously worked. Good second win of the season.

Chelsea 3-1 Southampton

Eden Hazard (23,25) (Chelsea)
Juan Mata (69) (Chelsea)
Wellington Nem (83) (Southampton)

Not an awful result considering they are high in the league and we also scored a good goal. It should give Wellington Nem the confidence to get a few more. He has got Brazil caps which must mean he's good!!

Aston Villa 2-0 Southampton

Darren Bent (38,89) (Aston Villa)

Tough result. We didn't play well enough and we were exploited by Villa. I switched the training focus to defending after this game as we were conceding too many.

Southampton 1-2 Manchester United

Robin Van Persie (7) (Manchester United)
Wayne Rooney (Pen) (27)
Rickie Lambert (80) (Southampton)

Not a bad result. The odds were stacked high against us but we played well and stuck to our game plan. Could have been a lot worse!

Southampton 1-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Aaron Lennon (31) (Spurs)
Royston Drenthe (33) (Southampton)
Gareth Bale (74) (Spurs)

Last game of the month and it was a great one again. November was a decent month, four losses and one win. We struck straight after Spurs and controlled the game well. After we scored we dropped deep and kept it level, almost scoring but were unfortunate to concede late.

Player Of The Month: Morgan Schneiderlin!

He was brilliant against Liverpool and produced a great ball to set up Wellington Nem against Chelsea. Things are starting to get better...
Pfff, that was a month with big fixtures :P
2012-10-21 13:02#68076 mdlp1991 : Pfff, that was a month with big fixtures :P
I know, was crapping myself at the beginning but we did better in the more difficult ones!!!
Sorry guys, again my game cocked up so I will edit Novembers results :)

December 2012

Norwich 3-0 Southampton

Grant Holt (12,61)
Steve Morrison (44)

Appalling result. We were completely outclassed in every department and that's that. Punished for our mistakes.

Southampton 3-0 Reading

Rickie Lambert (18)
Adam Lallana (19)
Morgan Schneiderlin (44)

Fantastic result which turned out to be the catalyst to the sacking of Brian McDermott. Very good team effort which was just what I wanted. Reading have been rooted to the bottom since!

Southampton 3-0 Wigan

Rickie Lambert (42,56)
Gaston Ramirez (50)

Another brilliant performance. Got us out of relegation temporarily and was just the result we needed. Great.

Sunderland 1-0 Southampton

Steve Fletcher (49)

Unlucky because we only conceded the one goal and, in fairness, it was unstoppable. Fletcher cut in from the right and curled it from the edge of the box.

Southampton 0-1 Everton

Phil Jagielka (Pen) (73)

Never a penalty. Even the FA were quiet when I complained about it in the post-match conference. Everton also missed a penalty before the Jagielka one which annoyed me a bit as, if the blind ref hadn't given the second penalty, we would have got away with a point!!

Southampton 1-1 Fulham

Rickie Lambert (29)
Marcelo Trotta (45+1)

Bit annoying as we gave away a goal just before half-time. Would have probably won the game otherwise as we defended well and got forward when we needed to. I like the sort of counter attack football we are starting to play.

Summary: Decent month in fairness. Didn't lose too many games and won two fantastic games against teams with me in the relegation dogfight. Still room for improvement however but we now are starting to score a goal and sit back as well as taking any chance that comes our way.

Player of the month: Rickie Lambert

Scored four goals this season and I think he has about ten goals so far!!
Nice to know Clyne is getting credit for his hard work!
