February 2012 Review

Napoli continues on with 5 more wins in February. Cavani was a real thrill as he scored in all league matches including a brace in 3 of them for a total of 8 league goals in the month alone. A scoreless away draw in the semifinal of the Italian Cup made for an interesting 2nd leg to be played at the beginning of March. As reigning Italian Cup champions, there is beginning to be a real sense of interest in the supporters to repeat and keep the cup.

Napoli now stands with a record of 24-4-1, the only loss coming on the 18th of September last year to lowly Pescara. With 75 goals scored and a goal differential of +58, the new manager has surely brought a new way of play to Naples and the entire country.

The board has awarded another feeder club, this time in France with Chateauroux of Ligue 2.
Brilliant story Adonis, really enjoying it!

So--no bids for Hamsik in January?

March 2012 Review

Napoli experienced their second loss (2-3) of the season when they traveled to San Siro in Milan on the 3rd of March. A struggle to win away at Fiorentina and a draw away at Atalanta would show that the side has become weary. There have even been whispers from some supporters questioning if they have enough left to get to the end and win the Serie A title. At the end of March, Napoli sits only 4 points in front of Juventus with a crucial end of the season matchup with the “The Old lady” still to come.

Napoli defeat Cagliari in Italian Cup Semifinal

In other news

Napoli's 7-0 victory against Cagliari in the Italian Cup was the largest win ever in Italian Cup history.

After the 25th of March draw to Atalanta, Napoli have clinched a spot in the top 3, giving them their second ever qualification to Champions League/European Cup.
Great story :) really enjoy reading it!

Are you worried about losing Hamsik and Cavani in the summer, if so have you already been targetting replacements?

Antonelli will be a star! Keepup this amazing story adonis!

Greetings Rookie! Yes, we at Napoli are very pleased with the acquisition of Luca Antonelli. He has performed well since his arrival and despite what some scouts say (only 3 star potential) we are very excited about him locking down the left side of the defensive line for some time to come. Thank you for your support!

Are you worried about losing Hamsik and Cavani in the summer, if so have you already been targeting replacements?

Greetings MCFCDAP and Quaesiveris! We received no offers for Hamsik and Cavani in the January window. We set Hamsik asking price at 30 million and Cavani at 40 million, so we feel this has deterred would be bidders. Both have had tremendous seasons, especially Cavani. As of the March 2012, I have switched Hamsik's asking price to 35 million and Cavani's to 45 million. These amounts are double than their rated value. I do imagine we will receive offers for both in summer window.

We have began to look at some possible replacements, but we are very confident that we will keep both. Honestly, these lads are so good that finding replacements to come to Napoli that would compare would almost be impossible. We must continue to grow our reputation. We will be looking to give Hamisk a contract more in line with Cavani soon, and are even flirting with the idea of a minimum buyout clause for his next contract as well. Cavani may well be in line for some sort of a raise as well next season.

With the side now guaranteed Champions League play next season, the club is confident we will keep both players, but both will need to be paid to match their talent. We will keep everyone posted with any developments as we head closer to the summer transfer window. Thanks for your support.
In the event that everything goes ideally, can we expect a marquee signing to boost the club's shirt sales and image, ahead of the club's return to Champions' League football?

Thanks for your question Quaesiveris!

You can expect to see some players that were here from the previous manger, possibly leave during the upcoming transfer window. This increase in wage budget and what is sure to be a decent transfer budget, should help us with a "marquee" signing. However, we won't rush to sign someone. They will need to fit our system and what we are doing here at Napoli.

If we can secure the league title, it will be interesting to see who we might be able to attract. We are still growing and changing a culture here, so it may take some more time. Seeing that we will be in Champions League will help attract players as well.

Stay tuned and thank you for your support.

April/May 2012 Review

Napoli seemed to almost crawl towards the finish line. After opening the month of April with 3 straight shutout wins, Napoli would draw the next two (at Roma, Genoa) before losing their 3rd match of the season in a very poor road loss (0-2) to Inter Milan, to close out April.

They would now sit only 3 points ahead of Juventus with 2 matches to play, one being at home to Juventus and the final away at Catania. They first would need to see about finishing out Palermo in the Italian Cup Final a match in which Palermo was slightly favored and in front of 73,000 fans at Olimpico Stadium. How would Napoli do?

Napoli finish out Palermo in Final; Cavani with hat-trick.

The Partenopei had won the Coppa Italia for the 2nd straight year! Supporters and the board raved about the 1st year manager and celebrated.

The celebration had to be short lived as the lads faced their biggest match of the season. A match in which they could clinch the Serie A title or fall even with Juventus with one game remaining.

A sold out Stadio San Paolo would witness a historic evening!

Napoli conceded a massive amount of possession but did not break and in fact stole 2 goals on the counter to capture a massive 2-0 win and capture the Serie A title and complete the double!

Serie A Table (Final)

In other news

Fulham have been relegated from the English Premier League after only 24 goals in 35 matches this season.

PSG have won Ligue 1 in France this season led by Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s 14 goals.

Manchester United have won the English Premier League led by 21 goals from Wayne Rooney.

Southampton relegated; fire Adkins. David Moyes fired from Everton after they placed 12th in the EPL.

Juan Mata of Chelsea has won the English Footballer of the Year award after notching 12 goals and 7.57 rating.
Great finish and congrats on doing the double :)

Bring on next season for you, maybe Champions League will become more of a priority? Hope you keep Hamsik and Cavani but would love to see what you'd do if you lost them!

From the Manager's Desk

Greetings Partenopei,

What a season! If I am honest, I didn't expect to win the Serie A title or Coppa Italia this season. Sure I figured we had a chance to challenge and maybe even steal one, but as a new manager bringing in a new system and philosophy, doing the double has been a magnificent achievement for this club.

How do we top this season, a season that saw us score 101 goals and a +70 goal differential? I would say there is plenty to do. The largest clubs in Europe don't collect a trophy every decade or two, they are there on a consistent basis. We as a club need to be challenging for the title (top 3) every season, qualifying for Champions League every season and continuing to grow our reputation and brand globally.

Our youth recruitment for the academy is on par with most clubs around Italy if not slightly better. Perhaps one day in the future we can expand the youth recruitment, but for now we must utilize a combination of bringing in quality youngsters from around Europe at a young age (15-17 yrs) and developing our own youth that come from the academy. This will ensure we can compete with the requirements of European play as well as develop players as we see fit. It's always easier to mold a player from a young age, than taking a superstar and changing his habits.

We currently have 10-15 million in the transfer budget that we would like to use some of before the summer window opens. Because of our qualification for Champions League, we are asking the board for 20 million in additional transfer funds to begin the 2012/13 season. One thing is for certain, we will need (quality) depth to get through what will be a busy season in 2012/13.

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/843/marekhamsik2012pic05.jpg/

In conclusion, I am very pleased to announce that we have begun contract extension talks with Marek Hamsik. Marek is ambitious and that is what we appreciate most about him. A player of his quality deserves the stage and exposure a big club can offer, so we plan to bring that here to Napoli for him and all of our other players. We hope to have something in place early in the transfer window.

And with that being said, let us head into the transfer window by celebrating our success but not resting on it.

Your Manager,
Adonis Pimp

2012/13 Season Review

What a magical season. It’s really hard to pick a single player who stood out. Sure Cavani’s 30 goals, 12 assists in Serie A appear to be the highlight, but others contributed greatly.

Morgan De Sanctis was a rock in goal. Center backs Cannavaro and Gamberini contributed 15 goals between them. Preseason newcomers Bressan (10 assists) and Ricardo Osorio (Serie A Team of the Year) really did exactly what we had hoped they would. Marek Hamsik led the midfield with 18 goals and 10 assists and Lorezno Insigne (13 goals, 21 assists) was leaned upon greatly in the first half with Eduardo Vargas (9 goals, 14 assists) taking control in the 2nd half.

Napoli 1st Team Stats

We had 6 players in the Serie A Team of the Year and Edinson Cavani was awarded both the Serie A top goal scorer award as well as the European Golden Boot award.

Here is a look at some Serie A stats as well as the stats from our title winning U20’s who led their group scoring 74 goals with a +35 goal differential.

Serie A Top Player Stats

Napoli U20’s

Sometimes the supporters can forget our players out on loan, but we constantly monitor them and their development. Luigi Vitale won the Serie B Player of the Year with Ternana (6 goals, 9 assists, 7.33) and Luca Cigarini contributed well at Atalanta of Serie A with 5 goals and a 7.17 rating in 31 appearances.

Here is a look at the Players out on Loan:

Napoli was awarded 1.87 million for their finish in Serie A. The board gave that sum as well as an additional 1 million for the squad bonus for the season.

Napoli plans undersoil heating project costing 2.3 million to be completed by the start of the 2012/13 season.

Real Madrid defeat Manchester United 3-1 in the 2012 Champions League final.

Congrats to the amazing double in your first season as Napoli manager! Can't wait to see your summer signings/targets. All of your signings have been working brilliantly so far. :)

I absolutely love the detail you're putting into the story Adonis! Hoping to see at least another season before you migrate to FM13.

Napoli acquire Salvatore Bocchetti

http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/839/salvatorebocchetti2.jpg/

Napoli have agreed to a 14 million transfer for Salvatore Bocchetti from Rubin of the Russian Premier League. Bocchetti was borned and raised in Naples before joining Ascoli of Italy when he was 18. After three years at Ascoli, he joined Frosinone for a year then Genoa for two years before Rubin paid 9.5 million for his services when he was 23. Now 25, Bocchetti has long made it clear his desire to come back and play for the Azzurri in his hometown. In addition to this, Bocchetti has captured 12 caps for the Italian National side and looks to be a fixture there for some time to come.

Bocchetti has simply amazing attributes! With marking (18), tackling (19), jumping (15), heading (17), and positioning (16), this lad has everything that we will require of him and he can do it all very well. Napoli is more than confident he will live up to every bit of his price tag and will be a fixture in the Napoli backline for years to come. Help us welcome Salvatore!
