Everyone knows, when you fall off the horse, it takes time to pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and get back on the saddle.
I got the sack at my hometown club, and I'll be honest, it hurt. I still felt I had some time as a player, but they insisted they wanted me as their manager. So, I retired from playing football, and took on management. And of course, that clearly didn't end well.
In a way, I feel cheated. I gave up my professional football career for them. Because they wanted me as manager. Then they decide to settle for mediocrity? Unacceptable.
So, since May, it's been about trying to recover. I'm obviously not going to play professional football again. So, I'm trying my hand at management. Once again.
23 caps for England, and a former player for Tottenham, Middlesbrough, Leeds, Everton and Liverpool. Surely, someone would want to hire me?
