Arsenal - Road to Glory

Welcome everyone to my new story. This time around it is Football Manager 2013 being played. Will be a bit different this time, will have a set of rules I’m going to follow, they are as follows:

Maximum transfer fee spent on a single player is £17.000.000
Will have a determined and a squad working together, so new developed players will need a minimum of 14 in both determination and teamwork.
With my philosophy on the field I will need a squad with a high passing ability.
Will aim to have a young squad, so will strive to have players under 25 years of age.

To start it all off there will be some changes in the club, some players will have to leave and a lot of staff will have to go. Going to build the club into a machinery of great talent.

When it comes to tactics, going to keep it up with having a passing game, so will be a lot of tweaking in that department, will post my tactic once I have it as I want it.

Recapping the lost

Due to the events on the servers here lots have been lost, but I wanted to continue my story none the less. So here I will write up what I have found to be important lately, wont be very in depth, but will leave me with something to continue on, a place where the story continues. Do remember that some of this is taken from what I wrote on the old story.

Season 1

Lets begin with the first season, with lots being lost in my sory I wont be rewriting everything, so going to make it simpler this time without making it worse, so be prepared for screenshots! hehe.

The season was a very bumpy one, one that had a horrible start to it, with managers coming to watch my games in hope to be offered my job, the board didn't have the balls to tell it to my face, but the media sure loved it. Linking many players to my hotseat eventually cooled off and I got offered a new contract witch I accepted with a low wage, I don't need to stick my hands down the pockets of the club.

Transfers first season

Here I will be posting what I wrote back when I got the players, so you all can enjoy reading it again!

Leighton Baines

I am proud to announce that Leighton Baines has agreed terms with Arsenal in a £17M move. This is a big reinforcement in defense as the club has struggled in recent seasons when it comes to their fullback positions.Banner revealed his interest in the media Baines was keen on a move to London to challenge for the title. Arsenal beat Manchester United in the chase for the player as both teams had offers accepted. As he is seen as a home-grown player this is also a very smart move by the Gunners. Fans is anticipating great things to come from him with the skills he is bringing as he is reunited with his old teammate Arteta.

Lars Bender

Arsenal has made another transfer that shows they are meaning big business this season, Lars Bender, coming from Leverkusen on a fee of £17M shows that the new Arsenal manager isnt afraid to have a go and put his faith in newcomers this season. This will fill the void left from Song as Bender is a dominant force as a defensive midfielder. With already having German player in the red and white jersey there are big hopes that Bender will settle very well in the club.

Ronaldinho

I am welcoming a legend to the club! Ronaldinho came to the club on a free transfer. This transfer will be looking to help out the team in a struggling time and needing to turn results around. He will mainly be as a backup for the first team, hopefully he will have something to contribute to the team.

Falcao

Here we got a big one for you! Falcao has joined the gunners in a shock move. Falcao handed in a transfer request at Atletico Madrid and all the big clubs started showing interest and handing in their bids. After alot of use of the media I managed to get the player looking my way and got my bid of £22.5M accepted and he was heading my way. A tremendous transfer that will slide right into the starting 11.

Staff changes
My first action as new manager of Arsenal is doing some cleanup, gotten rid of staff I see as not good enough and headhunted replacements that I know will do a better job. The staff members gotten sacked are as follows:

Assistant Manager: Steve Bold
Under 18 Goalkeeper Coach: Lee Smelt
Goalkeeper Coach: Terry Burton
Goalkeeper Coach: Tony Roberts
Head Physio: Colin Lewis
Physio: Simon Harland
Fitness Coach: Marcus Svensson
Scout: Christian Karembeu
Under 18 Fitness Coach: Craig Grant

My new staff is expected to do a great job as their attributes really speaks for themselves, they are more qualified to direct the squad into what I want them to be, a team that simply can beat everyone. Now, lets see who i brought in.

Assistant Manager:
Bernhard Peters

Season 2 transfers

The transfer window is well underway and I have been active in this one too as I usually am, caught some great players and some that are for the future, truly hoping they will bring me to the next level. Done a lot of searching for who I want, especially in the ones that are for the future, is important to get some players that will get a home grown status in the club that also plays regularly. And as I said, the window is underway and not closed yet, so things may still happen.

Stevan Jovetic

Here we have some great talent walking in at Emirates from Fiorentina. Stevan Jovetic decided to join the Gunners for a fee of £15M. With this 23 year old it will surely bring a new breath of attacking game to us, he is a player that will slide right into the squad as mainly an Inside Forward on the left side, but will also have a backup role to play if Falcao is out for some reason.

Sebastien Corchia

A new defensive addition is also brought to the club this window. Sebastien Corchia is joining Arsenal from FC Sochaux-Montbéliard with a pricetag of £17M I am taking a leap hoping the 22 year old will be the talent my scouts says he is. Corchia will be the successor of Sagna who is starting to become old, even tho he still has top skills I feel it is important to have someone else there who can preform when it is needed.

Marc-André ter Stegen

Now here I am presenting someone who will become a world class star. With Arsenal not being too known for being solid in the GK department the last years beside Sczcsny it is important to reinforce here. ter Stegen will be the future GK for the club if everything goes as I have planned. With a fee of £8M to get him from Mönchengladbach he is a steal. Can't wait to see him when he reaches his full potential.

Salvatore Bocchetti

Here is a player who entere my radar by being a free transfer, Salvatore Bocchetti is a goo backup for my defensive squad and will have that role since he isnt good enough to knock out either of my defenders, but is good to know that I have someone who is capable to bring some quality on the bench.

Morten Rask

This is the start of me grabbing youngsters off the market, Morten Rask came with a fee of £2.5M and is at the age of 18. This guy has gotten the future mark stamp by my scouts and I am glad I managed to make a deal with FC Midtjylland who was playing hardball with me over this transfer.

Greg Taylor

Here we have a new Englishman in the squad, another one for the future who comes from Middlesbrough on a fee of £400K. He is said to become a leading premier League star in the future so I am hoping this kid who is 16 years old develops fast so he can reach his potential with me.

Outgoing transfers

£4M Denilson Aston Villa
£3.2M Nicklas Bendtner Juventus
£1.5M Lukasz Fabianski Machester United
£170K Chuks Aneke Crewe
Free Andrey Arshavin Juventus
Hm... Is it just me or does Morten Rask and Greg Taylor look like mannequins?

Probably just me...

They are players fresh out of the factory, is how they look when they are new, they take more realistic form when they grow older ;)

Ah that explains it ;)

Off we go

The season is starting and the Premier League is rolling on! first lets take a look at my pre-season. Had a short pre-season this time around, but games went very well and my new player were given a go.

Pre-Season
Arsenal 1-0 Lyon
Osasuna 3-3 Arsenal
Xerez 0-2 Arsenal
Panionios 0-0 Arsenal

So far the Premier League has treated me good except for Falcao and Jovetic picking up injuries against Tottenham, leaving them on the stands for 5 weeks. My other players have stepped up in their absense and given the wins! Mertesacker got himself sent off against stoke, look at the video below

Premier League
Arsenal 1-1 Tottenahm
Norwich 1-3 Arsenal
Arsenal 1-0 Watford
Stoke 1-3 Arsenal

Champions League has been drawn too, it has given me a really tough group even tho I know that I should be very capable of going trough from this one.
good luck in the 2nd second, looks like manchester united became the new PSG!
@Donatt Defiantly going to be a hard nut to crack this season with those signings, but have to say I have done some damn good ones myself, so will be a good battle.

Solid run

A phenomenal start to the season! If you look back on where I was at this stage last season I only had 12 points and was falling behind, now the figures say 18 points and right on the number 1 spot. Had 2 draws so far, these were away from home so isn't the worst results, but would really liked to take home the win against West Brom since I was in the lead 0-3 before they bounced back for full.

Premier League
West Brom 3-3 Arsenal
Manchester City 0-0 Arsenal
Arsenal 3-2 Everton
Arsenal 4-2 Fulham

Also the Champions League is going brilliantly for me, 3 wins! Two of them away from home, so this really shows what the team is made of and will bring the fight to the other teams in the Premier League in the race for the title. I predicted Dortmund to be the toughest opposition in the group, but that is the team i beat easiest, predicting they will come hard at me in the next fixture.

Champions League
Arsenal 1-0 Celtic
Dortmund 0-3 Arsenal
At. Madrid 2-3 Arsenal

Lastly, I'm out of the Capital One Cup, lost against Swansea, my new feeder club. Honestly I don't think that is a bad thing, leaves room for more rest between fixtures and well rested players for more of my games.

Capital One
Swansea 2-1 Arsenal

Tactic talk

Now lets take a look at what tactic I am using. I have gotten one tactic down that I am satisfied with and using in every game I play. The only thing I switch up is the roles depending on what the player prefers to play.

This tactic leaves me with a playing style like the Arsenal we all know and love with a passing game and trough balls you wouldn't believe could go trough. Falcao is surely helping on the results, but still use many of the Arsenal players I started out with.

Games

Yet again there has been some games played and have had a series of games now where the results haven't really been on top, too many draws in my opinion(includes 2 draws in Champions League in the same period).

Premier League
Sunderland 0-5 Arsenal
Wolves 0-2 Arsenal
Blackburn 2-1 Arsenal
Arsenal 2-0 Reading
Arsenal 2-2 West Ham
Q.P.R. 1-1 Arsenal
gd story mate. im arseanl as well nd won the champions league in the first season although i finished 6th but still qualified for champions league this year :)
