Hi Guys,

I have recently found the site, and I am loving the stories.

So having played on the new FM for long enough, I have started a seriously challenging game, I am going to document my progress.

The team choice comes from the guy I sit next to at work, in Salisbury. He has been given the task of taking Droylsden from the BSN all the way.

I'll post when I can, but I am a bit of a sporadic player, so no promises.

Hopefully having a story to right will add some incentive though!

Enjoy reading!

PS. The manager name is my real name, but I am not THAT Paul Scholes, although we do both support Oldham!
So are you Salisbury or Droylsden?
Salisbury.

Sorry, should have been clearer!
Right then, here we go!

First day on the job, and I had a little chat with the board, and it was all fairly pleasant.
The team expect a decent finish in the BSP, with progress to the first round of the FA Cup and the second round of the FA trophy. I said that sounded reasonable.

I have thrown all my transfer budget into wages, and I have 6.44k. A decent amount for down here, but i am already on 5.5k!!

They also have no preference on the style of football I play, so I can be my own man.
I also met my assistant manager, and that was fairly uneventful.

I cast my eye over the coaching staff, and they seem to be decent enough, for this level anyway. I noticed a gap in the Attack and Technique areas, so I drafted in Padraic Fadden:

Not the best in the world, but he will do bearing in mind the budget limitations!
So, onto the squad...

Not too shabby, but no natural AML or AMR, which means I will have to look for new players if I want to go with my usual attacking 4-3-3. The hunt is on.

Until I get my men, I am going to use a 4-5-1 with control:

Now I am off to arrange some friendlies, and I’ll get back to you later!

Hello Again!
Well, I played my first game against the reserves, and tried my 4-3-3 without the right players. No-one was watching, so why not, I thought. This is why:

We just couldn’t get the ball in the net. So after twice as many chances, we lost to our second string. Not the best start!
I have managed to secure a youngster, Lewis Hazelwood,

He can play AML & AMR, so I can now play my beloved attacking 4-3-3, and the first to face it are Winchester. I didn’t expect to crush them as I am still playing around with who is bet in which role. But:

A draw. Our finishing wasn’t the best, and I think I may need to re-think the way my ST and AMC link up. Maybe play the TM in a support role. I shall have a look and a tinker.
One positive, I suppose, is that their goal came from a defensive mistake, when Callum Hart got caught in possession.

A mixed bag and some lessons learned.

There was, however, a minor disaster. Theo Lewis, my multi-role attacking player pulled his hamstring, and will be out for 5-6 weeks. This may call for a dip into the loan market, as I just don’t have the depth up front!

Fingers crossed I can find a replacement!
Hi Everone,

Sorry i haven't posted too much on here, and not as much as I would have liked.

I have never done LLM this far down the pecking order, and it is taking much, much longer than I thought it would.

Has anyone got any hints on how to do this a bit quicker? I seem to spend most of the time I have trawling through endless scout reports. So far, in ten days, I have managed to get through three friendlies, although teh fact that I always use comprehensive highlights so I can see what is actually happening may be slowing me down.

Any hints or tips would be gratefully appreciated!

Thanks,

Paul
