Hello everyone , I have decided to start a save with Newcastle United. This is my first save on Football Manager 2013 so it might be a bit rusty at first but I have played FM for years so I should be fine.I will do an update at the end of pre-season and will be doing monthly updates from then.

Also any recommendations or advice will be greatly appreciated! Thanks and I hope you enjoy the story.
good luck Josh :) will be following

Toon Army. The Magpies Fly High...
Ah sorry mate , didn't realise there was another Newcastle story.
Doesn't matter;) Use mine as a guide if you like; what works, and doesn't work. :)
Pre-Season Round Up

During my first meeting with the club owner Mike Ashley he told me he wanted me to get a place in the top half of the table and gave me a transfer budget of 7 million to achieve this. With this money I decided I need to buy an AML as both of the tactics I have set up(4-2-3-1 and 4-2-2-2) us these wingers and my current best was Demba Ba who I wanted to be playing in a central role.

Transfers

Mike Ashley also told me he wanted me to buy youthful players for the club so this and me wanting to add some Premier League and European experience to the side made my buy Nathan Redmond and Florent Malouda. I believe Malouda will be a massive success and the fact he was transfer listed for so cheap made me get him , I also think Redmond will be a great success in the future and he will play in many of my Europa League and Capital One Cup matches.

I also let Xisco go because he was on 50k a week in wages and this is too much for a player I won't be using. The 3 players going out on loan will hopefully get some first team experience.

Matches
I only had 2 games in Pre-season and one was against my reserves , this is how they went:

Newcastle 2-1 Newcastle Reserves: Pappiss Cisse,Nile Ranger
Albacete 1-3 Newcastle: Demba Ba(2) Haris Vuckic

I was quite annoyed that I only had one game during pre-season and I really hope my players are fit enough when the season comes.

Thanks for reading and I will do a final update tonight which will be a cover of August and September. :)

Ps. I have been drawn against Slask in the Euro Cup draw.
August Round up

We had 4 games this month so I decided to just have an August round up separately , all games will have a little match report about them. These are the results from August.

Our first game of the season saw us up against Norwich and I went for the 4-2-2-2 formation that I had set up. We came out of the blocks well and after a high cross into the box and a knock down by Cabaye, Pappiss Cisse tapped home into an open net. Norwich then replied straight away and the game was then level again. One minute after half time Demba Ba restored our lead and 2 more goals from Pappiss Cisse sealed the game for us and also saw him claim a hat-trick.

Next up was the 1st leg of our Euro Cup Play Off against Polish side Slask. Just 5 minutes into his first ever start for Newcastle United Nathan Redmond scored his first goal for the club. Our other summer signing Florent Malouda then scored a header from a corner.

The next game we had was away to Stoke and I went into this cautiously as I knew Stoke were a good team at home and they could be difficult to beat. I was proved right as just 1 minute into the game Jonathan Walters put his side into the lead and after 23 minutes he had another. At half time I changed the side and went to 3 at the back and went more attacking. Unfortunately a Ryan Shawcross own goal was only a consolation for us.

Our final game of August was the return leg of the Euro Cup Play Off in which we carried a 1st leg lead of 2-0. Tomasz Gorecki put the Polish side in front but straight from kick off we broke up the field and Haris Vuckic grabbed an equalizer. Mike Williamson then put us ahead with a powerful header but this was cancelled out by Dariusz Araszkiewicz. Vurnon Anita then scored his first for the club to make the game 3-2 and 5-2 on aggregate which put us through to the group stages.

The Euro Cup Group Stage Draw saw us be drawn against Napoli , Bordeaux and Feyenoord. I think this group will be topped by Napoli and it will be a close contest for who comes 2nd. The Capital One Cup drew us against Wigan and this is a good chance of progressing to the next round.

Also we had one new player sign for us when Vaclav Kadlec signed for 2 million from Sparta Prague on deadline day. We currently sit in 8th place in the league.

Good start mate!

Nathan Redmond was a brilliant player for me in my Liverpool save, in 2016, but for some reason the coaches say he's shite when he's clearly not. :O
