September Round-Up

In September we played 6 games , 4 in the league , 1 in Europe and 1 in the Capital One Cup. This month was a poor month were we only one 2 games and had a couple of injuries. These were the results.

Our first game of September saw QPR visit St James’ Park. 5 minutes into the game Demba Ba flicked the ball onto the left wing to Davide Santon , he then crossed the ball to Demba Ba whose header hit the bar before going in. The game finished this way and the only positive of a boring second half was Kadlec coming on as a substitute and looking promising.

Next up was Man United and a game that meant something to me personally as I’m a Liverpool fan. Unfortunately it took only 6 minutes for van Persie to put them infront then on the half hour mark Nani added another. Rooney then volleyed home to make it 3-0 at half time. An Ashley Young tap in and an own goal from Steven Taylor then made it 5-0 and his miserable afternoon got worse when he was sent off for violent conduct. Pappiss Cisse then scored for us before Michael Carrick made it 6-1. A terrible day was made even worse when Demba Ba fractured his wrist and will be out for 6-7 weeks.

The opening game of Group D saw Feyenoord visit St James’s Park and hopefully a chance to bounce back after being demolished by United. It didn’t start well as Graziano Pelle, Guyon Fernandez and an own goal by Vurnon Anita made it 3-0 all in the first half an hour. Right on half time Cheik Tiote smashed a shot past the Feyenoord keeper. Pappiss Cisse then made the most of a great through ball my Nathan Redmond and kept his composure to make it 3-2 but it was too little too late for a comeback.

Villa were our next opponents and after 18 minutes Pappiss Cisse scored the opener from the edge of the box. Kadlec then scored his 1st goal for the club to make it 2-0. Christian Benteke then tapped in a rebound from a Darren Bent shot to pull one back for the visitors.

The 3rd round of the Capital One Cup faced us against Wigan in a game we should be winning. Mauro Boselli put Wigan ahead after 36 minutes and this was the score at half time. A Danny Simpson mistake let Boselli get his 2nd and put the game out of our reach. The team were disappointing in this game and I can’t see us scoring without Cisse or Ba on the pitch.

The final game of the month was Fulham and with Cisse and Ba both out I was expecting much. After 9 minutes Berbatov scored a volley for Fulham and it seemed to be going like many other games this season. Vaclac Kadlec had different ideas though and he rounded the keeper to equalize. Poor marking from Coloccini then let Petric through on goal and allowed him to make it 2-1. In injury time Coloccini got sent off for a 2nd yellow card.

I am disappointed with all these results as I think we are a much better team than we are showing at the moment. I also fancied winning some silverware this year so know we will have to put some more focus in the Euro Cup or FA Cup.

League Table

This is a disappointing league position but it is still early days and hopefully by the next update we will be further up. I am currently bottom of the Euro Cup group after only one game being played.

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment on any advice etc. :)
October Round-Up

October was yet another poor month in which we played 5 games and only won 1. These are the results from October.

Our 2nd game in Group D was against Bordeaux and was a game we need to be winning to put us on form. After 13 minutes David Bellion rounded Tim Krul and put the French side in front. In the 55th minutes Bellion got another chance and tucked home his 2nd of the game. Cabaye grabbed his first goal of the season with a well taken penalty which gave us a lifeline but Bellion made it 3-1 when he sealed his hat-trick with a cross which sneaked in at the front post.

Next up in the league was Tottenham and another game I wasn’t looking forward to. Adebayor stole the ball from Cabaye on the half way line and when he broke free there was nothing Krul could do to stop him making it 1-0 and with 15 minutes left in the 2nd half Adebayor scored another to put the game out of any doubt.

We then faced Everton in the league and again I wasn’t very confident going the Goodison Park with key players injured such as Cabaye and Ba and players like Tiote and Cisse not fully fit. I was proven right as after just 5 minutes Jelavic put Everton in front. It was made 2-0 by Leon Osman in the 67th minute. Our 2 subsititues then linked up as Gutierrez crossed and Obertan tapped home to give us something to play for in the last 10 minutes unfortunately nothing came and it ended up in yet another loss.

The next game we had was the visit of Napoli to St James’ Park and another game I didn’t expect to get anything out of. We took the lead however ad Vaclav Kadlec crossed to the front post and Cisse tucked it away. Kadlec then turned from provider to scorer and he got on the end of a Malouda cross and smashed it home and he soon had his 2nd of the game which made it 3-0. Straight after half time Marek Hamsik scored for the Italians. It finished 3-1 and this game showed that the team has the ability to beat even the best teams.

Our last game of the month was against Reading and hopefully we could keep up the form that saw us beat Napoli. We started well and after 18 minutes Ben Arfa put us 1-0 up. It only took 2 minutes for reading to reply though as Pavel Pogrebnyak tapped home from 3 yards. In the last minute of the game Ben Arfa was sent off for unsportsmanlike conduct which was a bad end to another poor performance by the team.

I am really struggling to find a tactic that works with this team because the performances have been poor and this along with the fact we've had lots of injuries means we haven't had many wins.

League Tables

This league position needs alot more improving but I am confident that we can turn it around.

I am also hoping that I can turn this position around to and progress into the next round.

Thanks for reading and please leave a comment about how the updates are set out with any advice, improvments etc.
What happened to Man City. :O. Great start to your story and beat both of those losers from Manchester :D Good Luck.
The next update will be an update of November still but there will be a change of lay out so I can get updates done quicker! There will be less screenshots and less detail about the matches.
Hold your head high, it is still very early days :)
Exiting! Will follow this one - I'm sure you will improve the results :)
