First Signings

Swansea have confirmed Joey Barton's first signings for the club, with Brazilian duo Ademilson and Wellington Nem set to join from Sao Paulo and Fluminense respectively.

Barton tweeted on his account last night @Joey7Barton: "F**k yeah, just wrapped up 2 signings. young players with great potential. Swans fans can expect some news in a couple hrs. UP THE SWANS"

Ademilson is a young 18-year-old striker who has been a player for Sao Paulo since childhood. He does not have a good goal-scoring record in Brazil but Barton obviously sees something in the Cubatao-born teen. He will wear the number 18 for the Swans.

Wellington Nem is another youngster. At the age of 20, however, he has already made a total of 57 appearances and scored 18 goals for his former club Fluminense. An attacking midfielder who can also play on the wing, Nem will be given the number 8 shirt, signifying Barton's intention to play the 2-capped Brazilian international in the first team.

"It is good to have two Brazilians on the team that can play so close to each other on the pitch. They will complement each other because of their country's playing style, in my opinion," said Barton. "They also have massive potential and I hope they can unlock that here."

Although Ademilson is a fairly unknown name, Wellington Nem reportedly made the decision to reject big-money moves to Paris Saint-Germain and AC Milan in order to have the chance to play in the Premier League, and Barton has no doubt that his faith in the Welsh club will pay off.

The Friendlies

I've been reading how Swansea fans weren't too happy about my arrival as Swansea boss earlier in the summer. Well, hopefully they have been convinced. Our pre-season has been a breeze. We played against some of England's lower league teams, a fellow club from Wales, a Dutch club, and even an Austrian club on our pre-season tour in Austria.

The Debut of Joey Barton

This was the moment I'd been waiting for. I couldn't wait to show the Swansea fans what tricks I had up my sleeve. They were all going to respect me once they saw how I crushed my first opponent... Aston VIlla

1' - Hello everyone, and welcome to the Liberty Stadium! Today marks the debut of former Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton in his managerial role at Swansea. His formation for this match seems oddly similar to the playing styles Roberto Martinez and Brendan Rodgers had previously implemented into the team.

11' GOAL - Not a good start for Barton and Swansea at all. Charles N'Zogbia lobs the ball up to Darren Bent who fires in a shot. It is saved by Michel Vorm but the Dutch keeper fumbles it, and Bent has a second chance on goal, which he takes with ease.

13' - El Ahmadi feeds the ball up to Darren Bent and he looks set to score again, but this time the post saves the Swans.

14' - Bent heads the ball into goal, but he's off-side. A great spell of dominance from Aston Villa.

45' - HT: Swansea 0-1 Aston Villa. Not a good start and knowing Barton's temper I think the Swansea boys are in for a lecture in the dressing rooms.

45' - Nathan Dyer is on for Pablo Hernandez, who has been terrible on the wing for the first 45 minutes. Ademilson also makes his official Swansea debut, coming on for Danny Graham.

72' - Jonathan de Guzman has gotten himself injured, and it'll be Ki Sung-Yeung on to replace him, as well as making his Swansea debut.

81' GOAL - What a goal! Neil Taylor has the ball on the left and he crosses it beautifully for Nathan Dyer! Dyer rounds it past the keeper and slots it into the back of the net. Swansea draw level!

85' - Unlucky for Aston Villa, as Gardner's swinging corner ball is met by the head of Ciaran Clark, but it bounces off the post for the second time today.

90' - FT: Swansea 1-1 Aston Villa. Barton secures a point for the Swans on his debut as manager, but the fans will no doubt be wanting more from the youngest manager in the Premier League.

A Touch of Argentine

Swansea have confirmed the signing of Argentine left-back Juan Sanchez Mino for 2.5 million from Boca Juniors.

The 22-year-old started his senior career at Boca only 2 years ago, but has already made 25 league appearances for the Argentine team, as he forced himself into the first-team last season. However, he has now moved to Wales with Swansea, after Swans scouts were impressed with the versatile youngster. Mino can play on the left wing, defensive midfield, as well as central midfield, and he will wear the number 17 shirt for the Welsh team.

"I think I am still dreaming," said Mino in Spanish, in his first interview as a Swansea player.

"You're not," Barton snorted beside him, making everyone present laugh.

"Playing in the Premier League is probably every professional player's dream and I'm delighted I've finally got this chance. It's also rather helpful that I'm not the only South American in the team, because we know each other's cultures and such. I am looking forward to getting to know the rest of the team and playing football for Swansea."

Never knew about that actually.

Crosas the Swan

Spanish defensive midfielder Marc Crosas is set to join Premier League side Swansea City on loan.

Crosas, a youth player from Barcelona, has been at clubs like Lyon and Celtic throughout his short career. The 24-year-old joined Mexican side Santos Laguna from Russian club Volga recently, but has quickly fell out of favour, and has now agreed a short-term deal with the Welsh club.

"Marc will be a very good cover for Leon (Britton)," said Swansea boss Joey Barton. "About signing him up permanently, I don't know, to be honest. I'll see where he's at by the end of the season. He's certainly a very interesting footballer."
