Dubai-based investment company GFH Capital have successfully completed the takeover of Championship outfit Leeds United. The investors- David Haigh and Salem Patel (pictured) as well as Hisham Al Rayes- represented the firm to complete a 100% buyout of controlling company Leeds City Holdings from ex-owner and Leeds United chairman Ken Bates.

Speaking to crowded journalists this morning, Haigh announced "This is our day of independence. This is the day when all pessimism usually detected among fans turns into optimism. Today is the day that we change tomorrow's history books and wake the sleeping giant that is Leeds United Football Club"

The new owners have taken steps to kick off their summer of change by sacking Leeds United manager Neil Warnock. Despite bringing in 11 players during the transfer window, there was nothing that could be done to stop the ex-QPR gaffer's dismissal, just 5 months into the job.

According to Ladbrokes, the favourite to take the reins is ex-Leeds manager Dermot O'Leary who guided Leeds to a semi-final place in the Champions League during his last spell in 2001 and he's priced at 4/1 (4.00). Other candidates for the job are Eddie Gray who had two stints as Leeds manager- one during the eighties and another as caretaker manager when Leeds were relegated from the Premier League in 2004- he's oriced at 9/2 (4.50), Ian Dowie at 17/2 (8.50) and Leeds legend Josh Townend at 25/1 (25.00)

However, I wish him the best of luck at Leeds and hope he fufills his career to become the best footballer he can possibly be"
