Leeds United's flying form of 2014 came to an end at home to Hull City. However, they have won all other matches and are now in 2nd, just two points behind Blackburn. Particularly impressive has been Robert Snodgrass who has been a driving unit in midfield and chipped into the away collection with 3 goals from 2 games.
APRIL 2014

Blackburn 2-0 Leeds

Jermaine Pennant 9'
Jordan Rhodes 34'

This will be the only match included as it is the last month of the season and with just three games left, there is an interesting race between Leeds and Bristol City for 2nd as they are both tied on 81 points, with Bristol City holding 2nd place by virtue of goal difference.
MATCH 44

West Ham 1-2 Leeds

Ross McCormack 7'
Carlton Cole 14'
Kevin McNaughton 90+3'

Bristol City 1-0 Derby

Steven Davies pen 77'

Both teams left it late to snatch three points, Leeds in particular who kept themselves in the race with the last kick of the game as left-back Kevin McNaughton unleashed a rocket on 93 minutes. Leeds are fancied for Monday as they have a home game against struggling Cardiff whilst Bristol City travel to the Den to face Millwall.
MATCH 45

Leeds 4-1 Cardiff

Luciano Becchio 13', 50'
Adam Clayton 26'
Ross McCormack 32'
Jordon Mutch 48'

Millwall 1-4 Bristol City

Sam Baldock 21', 74', 90+4'
Jamie Vardy 40'

Both teams had a field day today, mauling their respective opponents 4-1 in each game. Leeds once again are the more fancied side as they head up to face struggling Middlesbrough whilst Bristol City play Ipswich
MATCH 46

Richard Smallwood 14'
El-Hadji Diouf 48'
Garra Dembele 61', 82'

Bristol City 1-1 Ipswich

Jon Stead 68'
Gary Taylor-Fletcher 90+3'

Leeds will undoubtedly have Gary Taylor-Fletcher to thank for winning them promotion in the dying embers of Bristol City's clash with Ipswich. Meanwhile, Leeds took full advantage of facing a side struggling to avoid the drop and did a thoroughly professional job with another 4-1 mauling of Middlesbrough.
LEEDS PROMOTED TO PREMIER LEAGUE

It's been a momentous season for Leeds United fans- after a 10 year absence, their beloved club are finally back in the Premier League. Leeds clinched automatic promotion in 2nd place with 90 points, just 5 points off champions Blackburn and 2 points clear of 3rd placed Bristol City
LEEDS HAVE WORK CUT OUT IN PREMIER LEAGUE

It would appear that newly promoted Leeds United face a mammoth task just to stay up in their new division this season. As Brighton learned to their cost last season, a lack of investment will send any club back down. With the recent financial trouble that saw Leeds go as far as £7M in debt towards the end of the season, they've had to spend a lot of their promotion winnings on wiping thee debt and retaining money to make sure the club doesn't fall back into debt. This has meant that Josh Townend has been left with very little money to spend.

"The chairman has told me that this year could be very tough. He has let me dsclose that I have £1.8M to work with this summer with a promised injection of £4M if things get really desperate" said the ex-Leeds and England captain.

However, Ken Bates has said he is still looking to sell the club after a recent proposed takeover from a Stoke-on-Trent consortium fell over just after the season ended.

"There's not a lot I can do this year. I don't have enough in my pocket to make a serious difference at the club. It seems we need new investors. When you consider how long it take for a takeover to happen however, it's looking highly unlikeley that it will happen in this transfer window. With any luck, it should happen before the January transfer window so that if we're really struggling, Josh at least has money to spend on improving the squad" said the 83-year-old Leeds United chairman.
For anyone wondering why I haven't posted in ages, this story has been moved to Leeds United- White Riot
