MANCHESTER UNITED

About the Story

I wasn't planning to do this story, but I have decided to do it for a few reasons. My last 2 previous saves have corrupted, giving me no story to use. However, I found this save which had barely been started, but it was a start. So I will continue the story, and this will become my main story alongside FMScout FC soon.

Why United?

Although I already had the save started, I had it started for a reason, or 2 reasons in fact. Number one is simple. Manchester United are my favourite team, and have always been that. Number two is the young players. I feel they have a lot of potenital which I can use, as I find there's nothing better than making a youngster a world class talent.

The Manager

This is not to be seen yet, but will soon be announced and uncovered later in the story...

Fergie Fired!

Club legend Sir Alex Ferguson has shockingly been sacked by Glazer, the Manchester United after failing to beat City to the title, which could have been United's 20th.

It is thought that many, including fans, players and staff at the club are outraged by the decision, after finishing 2nd on points to rivals Manchester United.

Sir Alex led Manchester United to 19 league titles, 2 European Cups and multiple other domestic cups, while being able to create a new generation of fine players, making the likes of Giggs, Scholes, the Nevilles and Beckham world stars.

The Glazers will now be looking for a new manager to take over, with Jose Mourinho and Pep Guardiola favourites, as well as Harry Redknapp being a possible candidate for the role. Surprisingly, ex Manchester City player and current Oldham boss Paul Dickov is also thought to be in the running for the job.

The Welsh Wizard Strikes Again

In a shock turn of the events, Manchester United have hired a manager no one would even imagine getting the job. Even with the likes of Guardiola and Mourinho possibly up for the job, the role has fallen to Manchester legend, Ryan Giggs.

It is believed that the club were in talks with Guardiola about managing the side, but failed to agree on personal teams and Mourinho publicly stated he did not want the job. Paul Dickov's possibility is seen to be a hoax, started by Manchester City fans on site FMScout...

Ryan Giggs announced that when finding out the managerial position could not be filled for a while, he decided to hang up his football boots at the age of 38 and ask for the role. As a club legend, gaining the most club appearances and being the 8th highest scorer at the club ever, there was no way this offer was going to be turned down.

Ryan has been given a £60,000 a week contract until the end of the 2012/13 season, only £10,000 less than his earnings as a player.

Giggs' First Press Conference

J - Journalist
RG - Ryan Giggs

J - Ryan, you take charge after a very successful playing career. Do you feel that puts more pressure on you or does that make this a whole lot easier?

RG - I feel any manager will feel pressure coming into a new position. I am feeling the pressure of a role change, but knowing the club and everyone at the club really helps.

J - What is your current view on the squad and transfers this summer?

RG - The squad is very strong, but there will be one or two players coming in. I will look to the younger players rather than the buying top stars all the time.

J - What is your view on the Sir Alex Ferguson saga?

RG - Well it seems to be all over now I'm here, but I have a lot of respect for Fergie. He bought me along the ranks and made me the player I was. We was brilliant with everyone at the club, and as well as making everyone gel as a team he was a great manager with some great tactics. I have a lot of respect and praise for Ferguson, and truthfully, I think he should still be the one sitting me.

J - So will you be following the same tactics as 'Mr. Mindgames'?

RG - That is not to say. I have had a discussion with SAF about this, but I am not revealing anything for now.

J - Do you feel opposing fans will try to get to you and damage your managerial career due to the 'Rhodri situation'?

Squad Analysis

I am fairly happy with the overall team, although one or two players will need to be bought, and I will try to bring in quite a few young players with decent potential who I can try and help grow to become a top player.

Manchester United: A Club Overview

Manchester United Football Club is an English professional football club, based in Old Trafford, Greater Manchester, that plays in the Premier League. Founded as Newton Heath LYR Football Club in 1878, the club changed its name to Manchester United in 1902 and moved to Old Trafford in 1910.

Manchester United has won many trophies in English football, including a record 19 league titles, a record 11 FA Cups, four League Cups and a record 19 FA Community Shields. The club has also won three European Cups, one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup, one UEFA Super Cup, one Intercontinental Cup and one FIFA Club World Cup. In 1998–99, the club won a Treble of the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League, an unprecedented feat for an English club.
The 1958 Munich air disaster claimed the lives of eight players. In 1968, under the management of Matt Busby, Manchester United was the first English football club to win the European Cup. Former manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, won 24 major honours after taking over in November 1986.

Manchester United is one of the wealthiest and most widely supported football teams in the world.

"Ours" my arse :P

Tactics

I have made 3 tactics which I will use at the moment, although may change, depending on the level and current form of the team I am playing.

This tactic will be used against weaker teams, or teams with bad form, so I can attack more and try to gain the all important goals while not having to defend too hard with the attackers using the ball a lot more.

This tactic will be used against decent sides, probably in the midhalf of the table that are on fairly good form. With this tactic I will try to keep possession more and control, while dominating the game, meaning the goals should hopefully come when needed, while United having full control of the ball and the game.

This tactic will be used against good sides, such as the top 6 in the league or teams suddenly on very good form. I will use this to balance play throughout the game, but counter attack on the break to try and get the goals when needed, having my target man upfront being a key player in this tactic.

Captain - Nemanja Vidic

Vice Captain - Wayne Rooney

Transfer Targets

Although I am not planning on spending much on big stars, I am looking to bring in a few youngsters. I am aiming to bring in players who are under 23, are homegrown (preferably) and under £7.5million at most. I have a few targets already, but I'm sure I'll find more soon.

Luke Shaw

A big upcoming star for Southampton, tipped as the next Ashley Cole. He's 17, and currently worth £375,000. However, as I have bought him in previous saves, his value goes up to around £3 million if not bought by January. I also know him personally after going to the same school as him, so it's always nice to have him on the team.

Wilfried Zaha

A massive star for Crystal Palace, about to sign for United in real life for around £15 million. He's 19 and worth £3.5 million, from previous knowledge I think I could get him for around £7 million, and he's always turns into a gem of a player!

Adryan

I am yet to play with Adryan, but I've seen him in many saves and he seems like a great player, so I will try to capture him and maybe send him on loan for a bit. The 17 year old seems like a player with great potential, and this is surely the club to bring it out of him.

Erick Torres and Carlos Fierro

The Mexican duo were outstanding for me on FM12, so I hope they can do the same again for me now. Torres, 19, and Fierro, 17, show great potential in the scouting reports, although I feel it could be tricky getting them both to Manchester without paying a fairly high price.
And the reds go marching on on on !!!
Good luck :P

Thanks buddy, hoping Giggsy can carry on the success :)

United Sign Shaw

Ryan Giggs has announced young left back Luke Shaw as his first signing of the 2012/2013 campaign. Shaw, 17, has been tipped as the next Ashley Cole, proving to be a promising future player for the England team, and cost the Welshman £3 million.

Shaw had recently signed a professional contract with Southampton, but a move to World Beaters Manchester United proved to be a move even he couldn't turn down. Shaw will receive £2,400 a week for his role at the club, which could see him playing first team football sooner than he thinks, due to a possible fall out between Evra and the manager.

Giggs unveiled Shaw to the media earlier today, and stated "Shaw is an exceptional young player, who I have wanted to sign ever since first watching him play. I am delighted for him to join us and I hope he can settle in as soon as possible. I have high hopes for this kid!"

Giggs Announces Second Signing

Manchester United manager Ryan Giggs has announced 19 year old Wilfried Zaha as his second signing. The English winger signed for £6.5 million, a price tag some fans believe to be too high, although put their trust in Giggs. Zaha will recieve £19,750 a week, and is tipped as the next Gabriel Agbonlahor.

It is believed other top teams such as Arsenal, Manchester City and Juventus were also scouting the ex Crystal Palace player. Giggs is yet to comment on the signing, possibly due to speculation of a third signing arriving soon.
