Hi guys, hope you're all good. Thought I'd stick my first post in here, give you a bit of a lowdown on my current FM13 save.
Having got the game on release date, couldn't wait to get stuck in. Always been a big FM fan, although hadn't really gotten into any of the last few years titles, mainly just down to being too busy, or losing my rag with it! So, with the game and a new laptop to boot, along with loads of new free-time, no excuse not to get right into FM13 and re-kindle that old love!
SO, I wanted to start unemployed and with no experience other than 'Sunday League Footballer'. After milling around for about a month and using the time to get used to the game, I was finally taken on by Havant & Waterlooville! Always going to be a challenge at the best of times, especially as I know next to nothing about the Blue Square leagues!
Had a very mixed first season. Board expectations were only a mid-table finish, along with very early cup runs. Ended up 17th, so stayed up and almost mid-table! Exceeded all cup run expectations, but didn't go too far. Couple of shrewd free transfers and binned off some absolute clowns. Overall though, a really frustrating season.
So last night, just a few games into season two and the team as a whole playing much, much better. Beating Chelsea reserves pre-season, along with Portsmouth and some other well earned wins. Start the season with a bang, with a massive 7-2 victory over Tonbridge, five goals from my little Irish freebie from the first season, Ethan Mannion!
Currently sitting 3rd in the table, after around 10 games in, so doing really well. Just about to save the game for the night last night, when the board announce a massive takeover! Manuel Vega (some tycoon) has bought the club for a cool £250k! So much for the promise of £16m for new transfers though, however, I can live with £7m and a wage budget of around £11k a week now! Couldn't believe my luck, all of this after spending the whole of the first season, signing decent scouted freebies and bargain hunting!
Club have also now turned pro and investments underway into youth facilities. So far, this fat-cat seems alright, but we'll see - I've still got my job I guess! Although I imagine expectations will be raised a bit now. Even with the money, still a bit difficult to attract the bigger names right now. So I basically brought in Sutton Utd (currently top) best player, a league 2 left back and a top rated midfielder (from last season) in the Blue Square South!
Time to crack on anyway, hope I haven't bored too many of you! Look forward to chatting with you all and any Q's about my current save, fire away!
Cheers,
Grant
