I walk over to my comfortable leather couch and sit down, before flicking the TV onto ESPN. Its a morning routine for me to do so, just to check up on the morning news in sports. I myself, am an aspiring Television director/producer who wants to get into movies as well as the world of sports.

The first thing I hear when I turn the Television on is the sound of the newsreader Stephen A Smith talking:

"In news from England, we can inform you right now that Damon King will officially be announced as Reading manager later today. The news came through to us, after the Reading ownership did a scouting mission in America and interviewed him. This has come as a surprise to many, as Damon only has college experience in Soccer and hasnt ever taking on a coaching role."

I look at the Television Screen, stunned. I cant help but to think "Was my meeting with them really that impressive? I mean, I didnt think it went all that well" before grabbing my phone and calling the Reading director of Football, Nicky Hammond.

"Hey Nicky." Is all I can mutter out.

His response is calm and relaxed: "Hey Damon, Id take it you heard the news? We tried to call you last night your time but you were probably asleep."

I nod, before stating nervously: "Yes, I heard. Is it legitimate? Did you guys honestly choose me to be the new manager of Reading?"

He quickly responds: "Yes. We think that you can offer something to us, even if you mightnt have been the most credentialed of choices."

If only he could see the smile on my face right now. I then calmly reply: "So, when did you want me to fly over and meet you guys and the team?"

He pauses for a bit, before remarking: "Tomorrow, if thats okay with you."

I then state: "Yeah it is. Well, i better be getting ready then."

Nicky then replies: "All right. We'll see you again soon. Welcome to Reading."

I then remark calmly: "Thank you and talk to you soon."

I then hang up and get ready to fly to England. The American revolution is about to begin.
Reading, England

So, my first few days on the job at Reading have been eventful, to say the least. Im just trying to take everything in and learn as I go, having had to look through the squad and see where improvements needed to be made and what I could do in order to make those improvements. Oh, and theres been the issue of jet-lag to deal with also considering how tired Ive been at stages during the day.

At least I got through the first press conference without much of an issue, seeing as I dont mind dealing with the media having worked in that field for the past year and a half as well as when I was a rising sporting talent. So, the media dont really bother me too much at all.

My phone then rings, and I pick it up seeing that its Nicky again.

"Hey Nicky, calling to let me know about the Surman deal?" I ask, already knowing the reason for this call.

"Yeah. Just thought id let you know that it has been processed and formally finalized. Andrew Surman is now officially a Reading player." Nicky replies, with a hint of happiness in his voice.

I then smile, knowing that this offers much needed depth and quality in the left of midfield and that hes talented enough to take the starting role right away. I then reply: "Thank you for doing that Nicky. He was the sort of player we need to have, if we're to be competitive this season."

Nicky then responds: "Not a problem. Well, ill let you go for now, and we'll talk later."

I then nod, saying: "All right then man, talk soon."

We both hang up at the same time, as I head to my couch to watch the news.
