Can anyone tell me in general, how the best way to sell players is for the most amount of money possible, because i can never really get players to move on.
Well offer to clubs is what I do.
Yes, so do i but i have to go really low below their asking price and sometimes even lower than their normal price before anyone will even look at buying them, the best ive done in my current game is steed malbranque to middlesborough for 5million.
well most of your players that you are trying to sell arent at their 'best'.

for an example, if your trying to sell alan lee and he isnt at his best and no one is really seeing if he is good enough, plus that he doesnt have the reputation for other clubs to be interested. that makes it harder for clubs to risk.

so usually hard training for that specific man and maybe give him 1-3 training matches and such to let other teams catch an eye on him. then they will be more interested. usually you can negotiate but only a little bit and you have to be careful with negotiation. Of course if you transfer list him and all then automatically the other clubs will see that he is unwanted by you and they know they dont have to pay more. .

Just so you know this will change in FM 09 a bit.
In FM 09 will the transfers be easy compared to before e.g getting rid of, 50 million for one person.

it wont be exactly easier. but it will be more realistic.
Thank God for that!!
I have opposite problem. I downloaded Complete European Update 2008/2009 v3 and start game with Arsenal. My team with bunch of luck managed to win PL, Champions league and FA Cup. The problem is that i have to pay absolutly exorbitant amount of money for almost any player I want to buy. I really dont mind spending 40 millions euro for Miguel Veloso, cause he is wonderfull player. Bud if Manchester put a 41 million offer for Samir Nasri my management decide to accept that offer. So i want to get replacement for Nasri, i decide to get either Hatem Ben Harfa or Nani. According to demand of Marseille i should pay 73 millions for Ben Harfa and Man Utd decline 65 millions deal for Nani. Nani played like 9 matches last season, nothing really special...Nasri was one of best wingers around. Anyone can explain that?

that might be of a slight help. should explain things overall.

Offering a player to clubs isnt exactly a great option....it works only if a team has already expressed an interest in that player , but have not bid so far...and as for cahik's problem , ya i have faced it many times...when i was managing Derby , i lost Giles Barnes to a price much lower than his value...:(
However , why do you have to go for Nani or Ben Arfa?...there are lots of other cheaper and better replacements out there in smaller clubs... Man United took advantage of you , so you do the same to the smaller clubs...=D
I have another big problem
